I've been bringing my cats to Dr. Abel and the folks at Harper for over two years now. They are a great clinic: professional, friendly, reasonably priced--you couldn't ask for more. If you want your pets well taken care of, take them to Harper. Fantastic staff and service. We were traveling up from Ohio for a trial and realized that one of our dogs had a 4 inch laceration behind her front leg.

Harper Animal Hospital officially opened its doors in 1975, and since that time we have been providing our clients and patients with the highest level of quality service and care. We are conveniently located to serve the communities of Palatine, Inverness, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Barrington.
Dominique started working at Harper Animal Hospital in 2009 and finds the job very rewarding. She loves interacting with the patients as well as the clients. Dominique started riding horses when she was six years old and knew from then on that she wanted a career working with animals. She shares her home with her adorable mutt dog Kismet and a spirited Amazon parrot named Spatz.

Watching his father leave in the middle of the night to deliver calves in sub-freezing weather led Dr. Abel down a slightly different path, however, which brought him to our suburbs in 1988.Prior to that, he received a Bachelors Degree in Microbiology from Iowa State University in 1984, followed by his Veterinary Degree from Iowa State University in 1988.

Our 8 - month -old puppy, a Boykin spaniel was very sick. X-ray showed bowel obstruction and had to have emergency surgery. We were 5 hours away out of town and couldn’t afford and transfer him to another facility. But thank God Dr John Abel took a risk and able to do the surgery the next day. We are so grateful for what he did to save the life of our dog. He is an exceptional Veterinarian and have a good heart. We are grateful.

Dr. Abel and his staff are so understanding and patient with our dog. He has several issues including some anxiety and seizures and Dr. Abel, receptionists and the vet techs make sure he is comfortable and always answer all our questions. I highly recommend them and would not take him anywhere else.

I just got a puppy and was super nervous with COVID that I wouldn't be able to be in the room with my pup. Harper came highly recommended so I gave them a try and I couldn't be more pleased! From my first phone call to the receptionist, she took the time to answer each and every one of my million questions. The tech who came out to get my puppy was very sweet which put my mind at ease. Dr. Fritz called me with updates from the appointment and again answered all my millions of questions. The process was simple and sweet. The scheduling was easy and with lots of time options. All in all HIGHLY recommend

Dr. Savitt delivered all the information I needed to know about my dog in a professional manner that I could understand. We moved here recently from the south and they do things a bit different down there. Dr. Savitt was thorough while explaining the purpose of specific vaccines. You can tell in her delivery that she is passionate about her profession and caring for our babies! The staff were equally as professional and helpful. I would also like to thank the wonderful, very attentive staff and Doctor’s at Harper Animal Hospital. Twice over the past several months we had to make emergency visits without an appointment and they were nothing but accommodating making a nervous moment a more assuring and pleasant experience.
