Yesterday's Restaurant

Came for lunch on a Sunday. No wait. No one really in main dining area. Mostly people at bar and a few baby showers. Hostess was pleasant, we were seated right away in a nice section. Waitress wasn’t overly friendly but not rude. Came right away, got drinks, soup, salad, bread.
Chicken soup was water. Most flavorless soup I’ve ever had. It had no taste. Salad was standard, nothing to praise or critique. Bread was plentiful but hard.
Entrees were a mixed bag. We ordered chicken parm, chicken francese, two steak dishes, mozz sticks, and a cheeseburger (kids).

The beginning of our experience didn’t start off so well. We had a 630 reservation and we didn’t end up sitting down until close to 730. Hostesses apologized but when you have 2 small kids anything more than a 20 minute wait can be a painful experience. I personally don’t think the waiters/waitresses do enough to move tables on a Saturday night when it’s busy but it is what it is. They have a pretty extensive menu and also had a lot of specials. I will say everything came out very quick and was better than expected. The shrimp francaise was delicious as well as the salmon. For the price

We got there about 20 minutes before they close on a Tuesday night. The Hostess told us we didn't have much time but we can come in. We placed our orders right away and we were not rushed at all . The food came out fresh and hot. Everyone was kind and courteous all the way throughout dinner.
The food was excellent and we were not rushed at all. When we come back to NJ we will make it a point to come back to Yesterday's

We have given them two visits and been extremely disappointed each time. Do not like to write super negative reviews as I am sure they are trying their best however the high $$ plus very very mediocre food just doesn't allow me to say much positive. Veal parmigiana was rubbery and gross, meatballs and spaghetti was also bland. Server was not pleasant at all and too busy chatting with people she knew. Drinks were empty for the entirety of the meal. Decor and layout is very nice and comfortable and the busboy was helpful.

We had baptism there! And food is delicious! Kids friendly ! The server Donna was extremely patient and caring!

We had a baptism here on 8-28-21 and this entire place was nothing short of excellent. We had the big room about 80 people. The room itself is beautiful…Plenty of parking and the food was amazing. We did Buffet. A lot of People at the party told me how good the food was. Joe the Manager was very nice and professional. We had 3 servers that handled the party and all 3 were on top of everything. I don’t know their names. I will edit this review and find out because they are very deserving for how amazing they were. They were On top of everything. Very happy with Yesterday’s.

I have been to Yesterday's 5 times so far since moving to Matawan few years ago. Today was the first time I brought my elderly parents. They finished everything on their plate for once. Need I say more? Our server Donna was fantastic.
The fact that this establishment has been around for so long and consistent with their Quality, Service and Prices is why they are so successful. Don't change a thing!

The Tuna Salad Wrap was delicious and the fries were tasty as well. I also got a Cannoli, but it looked so good that I forgot to take a picture! Very quiet and relaxing diner atmosphere.

Great service friendly atmosphere. Very clean establishment, adhering to all social distancing protocols. Family oriented and the staff and management really go out of their way to make all feel comfortable, safe, and have an enjoyable dining experience.
Fantastic robust appetizers, and great desserts.

This is one of the best places in the area to eat. Unfortunately due to covid they do not have their awesome salad bar open but that's okay their pasta vodka is still phenomenal. They're so welcoming and they don't rush you out. They even have takeout. Don't miss out run.. crawl ..or better yet drive and get their food today.

Today my husband and I went to Yesterday's Resturant. We were seated quickly and the place looked nice. However, one server was wearing her mask below her nose and our server was wearing an eye shield turned upside down instead of a mask. This does not follow the law and completely grossed me out. We left without ordering

If I gain weight from 2020 it will be their fault. I'm addicted to their veal parmigiana! I dont understand why their sauce is so good!

The self serve salad,soup & muscles bar wasnt set up because of covid regulations which was a bummer. Was always enjoyable & something to stand out from other restaurants so Couldnt help but feel sad about that not being available. They could have still implemented certain measures to keep it. The specials advertised on the outside sign werent available either. So why not remove the sign instead of misleading people? This visit was kind of a turn off so I ordered just the chicken wings and my husband had the chicken parmigiana. Both were ok-good not outstanding. Can get the same or better

We enjoyed appetizers in a pleasant outdoor seating area. The service was excellent and the food as well. It felt like a normal, nice, relaxed, Friday evening dinner experience. A long time since we enjoyed dining out. Thank you, Yesterday's!

I ordered delivery from Yesterdays restaurant on route 35 in Hazlet, Sunday, May 24, 2020: during the Covid outbreak. The restaurant offer delivery and I think that's terrific. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi over penne pasta and I had the eggplant rollatini with baked potato, side salad and soup Both entrées came with salad and soup which is very nice. We also ordered the crab melt away appetizer which was very good however, contains no real crab. It is actually made with Pollack, Which I'll be at is Fish however it is not real crab; It is actually an imitation crab meat and substituted

We ate here for the first time and many friends have recommended this place. We found the food was very good and reasonable. The salad bar has mussels in red sauce which is very good and the mussels are fresh not frozen.

We tried to stop in for dinner on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm.

3 of my party are handicapped and cannot use a booth.
We arrived to the hostess who had said ALL tables are reserved and it would be HOURS before a table opened up.

Mind you, the restaurant was basically empty at this point

There was no sympathy or accommodation regarding handicapped persons and we were turned away.

We called the manager to try to explain the situation. The manager/owner literally did not care and was more interested in arguing with us over the phone.

They basically stated they had a communion that was booked

Excellent bar menu. Delicious salad bar and diversified menu( American, Italian and seafood dishes.

Mussels were Sandy... Entrees were large portions of cheap quality food. Many other choices available for the price. Staff was very anxious to get us to leave for the next turnover.. We won't be back.

What a great place for lunch! We had the wings which were crispy and had a great taste. I had the turkey burger, it was fresh not a patty. The potato salad was fresh and tasty. My husband had the chicken BLT it was also good. The lunch special pricing is so reasonable!
My only reason for 4 stars was there was no draft beer selection and the place is a bit dated.
The salad bar person came over and talked to us, she was so nice and pleasant.
Wish I lived closer!

Cant beat the lunch menu! Affordable, tasty and good staff.
Especially love the special $5 menu during lunch hours, consisting of soup and salad.

You really can't beat the five dollar lunch option (Monday-Friday). So many options for $5 and it is a generous portion. You can also choose the soup/salad bar as one of the options. My friend and I came the other day for lunch, we left full and satisfied, and our bill was $10.86! Definitely check it out!

I was in Jersey visiting a sick aunt.
My mother and I just had a very long day and she wanted something sweet we were staying down the street at a hotel when we noticed that the lights were still on at the restaurant.
I quickly looked it up and saw that it closes in 45 minutes.
I told my mom let's just go in for dessert and give it a chance they may not want to sit us as they will be closing soon.
We entered the restaurant and were greeted very kindly and escorted to our table.
Our waiter Nick never looked frazzled that he was sitting two people less than an hour before closing.
Instead
