Always good food at Evans. My late hub was one of their first customers and their reputation hasn't changed.

Their Lamb and Beef Gyro and Chicken Gyro are really good and have a lot of meat. Their baklava was really good. Hope to try other items on their menu. Good service and great Greek food!

By far one of the best restaurants in Jersey. You wont find more authentic home cooked greek food anywhere. A small place no frills but the food is where it's at. Highly recommend any of the Kabobs or Gyros. Top notch genuine food !!

My previous post is all wrong. I haven't eaten at this establishment in the first place. I work for pest control business and I didn't hear what the owner Evan told me. I apologize to him and his daughter Joanna for the past review.

I will come out to Matawan NJ to check out this place and even come to taste the delicious Mediterranean food including the gyros.

Hopefully in the future, I listen to what the owners say before question my emotions. I'm sorry Joanna for the past review. Hope you can forgive me.

Great place. Simple diner food but amazingly done w/ fresh ingredients. The owners are friendly and always there.

So my wife and I are here a few times and loved the food. Tonight on my way home from work I wanted to get some food. I placed my order. As I waited at the counter I saw the older gentleman ring another customer up touching money with his bare hands then go and touch french fries twice with the same bare hands. I lost my appetite. Sorry had to share. Money is disgustingly dirty. I'll never eat at Evans again

Clean and nice place. Not expensive. All fresh food. Warm welcome with a smile. The waitress who served us was very polite and respectful. Keep it up...

I love this place. I worked across the street for a while and would come there twice a week. Now I go out of my way to stop by and support them. All their food is good, from breakfast to diner fare to Greek staples. Love it.

Love the French toast with Mushrooms an spinach omelette. The sausage is great also. My wife love the banana pancakes. My son love the Grits and cheese. Also the Gyro an the gyro platter is worth the try. A great family business with Great food

I was traveling for work and stopped here for lunch. Family run. Fresh food and generous portions. I ordered the cob salad with chicken. Yum. Eating here you won't be disappointed.

Hands down the best Greek food around. The nicest family own the restaurant and are always helpful and so pleasant. Never had an order wrong or something forgotten. If you havent been you should go. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get.

Over the past year or two, we’ve eaten lunch at Evan’s more than we’ve eaten anywhere else in the area, perhaps combined. Exceptional Greek food, plus a giant menu of everything you might expect from a quality diner. We’ve ordered omelettes, salads, soup, gyro, kebabs, and wraps. All very good, and very consistent. Evan and his family run the place, and my fiancée and I feel like welcomed members of the family every time we’re in. Highly recommended.

I appreciate your response but my daughter is allergic to tomatoes which is what I asked the gentleman to omit. Sorry being busy is not an excuse to not get the order correct especially with food allergies. I did have my order ready to let your order taker write down.

Fantastic little place right off the Parkway. Great service and even better food. Evan's Gyro Omlette is da bomb. They also do a good job straddling the pork roll/Taylor Ham debate by using both terms on the menu.

Was starving after a hike in the area and we came across this cute little Mediterranean spot! We got two combination gyro platters and fried calamari. Good amount of food, even took some to go. The food was really good, generous portions and the staff was super nice and friendly!! Good experience overall!

99% positivity rate in my opinion from all my orders from Evan's. The staff is always friendly, their pieces are reasonable and their food is delicious! Authentic Greek recipes (I love the chicken kebabs) and classic Americana done perfectly (breaded chicken sandwich, breakfast sandwiches, wraps). OH and probably the most important thing: THEIR FRENCH FRIES ARE ALWAYS PERFECTLY CRISPY! Thank the holes in the styrofoam box, why doesn't every restaurant do this?? Love Evan's, highly recommend. Although- if you don't live close it's a bummer they don't have delivery.

Delicious fresh food, huge portions, reasonable prices, friendly family-run establishment with open kitchen and neighborhood vibe. Busy on a Saturday afternoon with dine-in customers (spaced out accordingly), but got our takeout order quickly. Definitely will be back.

I don't know why else to say about this place other than it's awesome. Fresh food, the best gyro and balaclava. Friendly staff no matter how busy they are. Definitely call ahead and place your order or you could be waiting a good amount of times for your food because the line is long and the phone doesn't stop ringing.

Just had a DELICIOUS falafel veggie wrap from here. The falafel is clearly home made and freshly fried. The combo of the hummus, lettuce, onion and tomato makes this a refreshing light lunch. It comes with fires too but I passed on those and was still full.

Definitely a hole in the wall place but the food is surprisingly good. My husband had gyro and I think I had beef or lamb kabob. So glad we went. It was great. Service was good

Small place. But do not judge this book by its. This is a really nice place to try. It is a local hometown spot that I am sure stays busy. 2 - 3 people in the kitchen and a very nice (and cute) waitress named Joanna that will take good care of everyone. Amazing she's able to get through so many customers and give everyone personal attention.
The gyro was so good. Perfectly cooked chicken. Juicy in each strip. The bread was so soft and delicious even by itself I had it with yellow rice verses with fries. And good choice. The rice was so fluffy with flavor and needed no additional salt or

Trying to frequent more of our local restaurants me and my sister chose to visit Evan's.


We started lunch off with Evan's Tiropita, a Phyllo dough pastry filled with ricotta cheese, feta cheese, and various herbs.

The cheese filling was so yummy with the unctuous funk of feta and the creamy richness of ricotta; all balanced out with herbs which tasted like an Oregano blend. My only slight was the Phyllo dough which was a tad chewy at some spots and not crispy.

My main dish was the large Greek salad and also a side order of Gyro meat.

This is a family owned, Greek restaurant - I find myself consistently going here to pick up lunch. The spot is very casual and is rather small, so I do recommend picking up rather than dining in.

My go-to salad is the Greek salad - it has pieces of tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and feta cheese with a light dressing. Warning - I used to get the chicken in it - but one time, I felt like the chicken was slightly under-cooked, which really freaked me out. I now just go with the Greek salad and no meat, and it's always delicious.

Again, pretty good spot for Greek food.
