2009 Pandas Karate started out in small warehouse in Gaithersburg, MD. It took hopes and a dream to one day teach the virtues of martial arts to students of all ages. Pandas Karate started with 0 students when it first opened. PK grew so much that we moved to our permanent address in between the cities of Olney & Rockville.
The Co-founder, Daniel Amaguana, understood the benefits of karate from his personal experience in growing up and having to deal with bullying and weight gain issues. He believed that through martial arts he could help someone face their fears without the use of a kick or a punch. Along with his wife, Susan Amaguana, they embarked on their dream together creating new black belts and improving the quality of life for their students.

We have been attending Pandas Karate for the past 3 years and love it. This small family owned karate studio is extremely professional. They emphasize anti bullying and help kids gain confidence and coordination in their movements. The instructors are awesome and strike a balance between fun and encouraging and at the same time set high expectations for the students and get them to push themselves to do better. Pandas is a fantastic mainstay of the Derwood Community. Come check them out!

Our older daughter has been taking classes with Pandas Karate for about three years now and our younger daughter started about a year and a half ago. We have seen a really noticeable impact on both of our kids. We have seen them develop better balance, strength, flexibility, confidence, and discipline. They love karate and enjoy practicing their skills at home. Master Daniel is an excellent teacher and role model. Pandas Karate is a warm and welcoming family-owned business worth supporting!

My kids tried a few karate schools in the area and one of them was Panda Karate. This place has great customer service. They responded to my inquiry promptly. We met with the owner Master Daniel on the trial day. He was nice and kind to my kids. My kids did 15 minutes trial class for $7 for each kid. Master Daniel showed them basic karate. He explained to us the classes they offer, their schedule, and the monthly fee. The school is clean and spacious. They offer an in-person class and they follow covid 19 protocols. They put a line on the mat so that kids are socially distancing. Everyone has

My kids registered 6 months , they complete first 3 months normal
but because COVID-19 we didn’t send them back again we explained the reason to Panda’s management.
Now I receive bill from collections .
So I have to pay for 3 months with out getting any service .
Attention customers they are not trustable so make sure before you guys sign any papers.
Teachers are nice but management very BAD once they get the credit card they think that’s it.

I highly recommend Pandas Karate! Mr. Daniel and Ms. Susan are awesome instructors. My son started as a white belt, and is currently a 2nd-degree black belt. He has grown into a self-assured, confident young man who has learned the importance of persistence and commitment through his training at PK.

Pandas karate is amazing. My son has been taking karate for 4 years and has learned so much. The staff helps the children learn confidence and self-discipline while making you feel like family at the same time. We love the parent night out offerings a few times a year that the owner and his wife run. They also teach the kids about bullying which is so important!

We are VERY proud to be a family that goes to Panda's Karate. We have been going to Panda's now for over a year and a half and have loved every minute of it. The owners and instructors are the most kind, patient, influential, and FUN people. Two of our children already attend weekly and once our youngest is old enough, she will also be a student here. I recommend this school to anyone that shows interest in karate for their kids and will continue to do so! Go try a class and you will see why we love it so much!

I love this karate place! We have been going here for over four years from white to black belt. Master Daniel and his staff are very professional, kind, fun and caring for their students. Master Daniel's passion and enthusiasm for his work clearly shows in all the classes. Don't miss out on their parties as well, especially the nerf parties!

C has been coming to Pandas Karate for a few months now and absolutely loves it. He started the Pre-Karate program (2.5-3 years old) a week before he turned 2.5yo. The first class was free, which was nice because C just observed from the side lines for the first 20 minutes of class until the moon bounce came out (what toddler would pass this up?!). Since C didn't really participate his first class, Ms. Susan (one of the owners) was kind enough to let him try the class again the following week free of charge. This time around, C participated and really enjoyed it.

I enrolled my son for the first week of summer camp (Angry Birds theme). I was left dissapointed when I realized that it was more of a high end baby sitting service. He watched a movie, went to the park and pool, did some Angry Birds crafts and minimal karate.
My son had a great time there, but he was dissapointed of the lack of karate he did. Needless to say, I paid $240 for just two days of camp (should of been 4 days). Ouch! I do take responsibility for not asking the right kind of questions for what the camp would entail, but as a parent, I was hoping that the camp would have been focused

I love taking my kids to Panda Karate my boys have never experienced having a sport or an extra circular activity other then playing sports at recess at school or with the kids in the neighborhood. The instructors are great and work with all the children. I even will make simply comands at home and they will reply "yes ma'am or no ma'am" this program is great for all ages.. Thanks again Panda Karate

Pandas Karate has helped my daughter with self confidence and good behavior. I found it hard to find a good karate place to take my daughter but when I walked by Pandas I noticed that it was different compared to others. The classes are small and they start at the age of 2!! They are excellent and very friendly. My daughter looks forward to karate every week and she participates in every class. I love the staff and the owners are such sweet people, always there whenever I have questions.

My son (age 7) was in Pandas Karate program for over a year. We loved Daniel and Susan's approach to teaching kids the basics of martial arts, focus on discipline both at the studio and AT HOME - another win for the program. We had to quit, unfortunately, due to other commitments - but overall the program was great. Highly recommended for kids K - 12 looking for a quality martial arts program and lots of 1:1 time with instructors.

If you are looking for a karate class for your young children that is nurturing, fun, teaches good life principles of first time listening, discipline, and doing well in school, is focused on overall physical and life balance, and is not overwhelmingly challenging then this is the place for you.
The classes are 30 min for the Little Pandas, and that time is split into approx. 3 parts:1) Warmups and counting in korean 2) Karate technique 3) Obstacle courses/Games.
The classes are 2x a week, and in order to get the discount on the monthly fee you need to sign a 6 month contract.

Our experience with Panda's Karate began with my younger son, who started as a white belt and is now a blue belt. Along the way, my older son decided to take the kick-boxing class. Then, I decided to join my older son in the kick-boxing class.
As you can tell from the progression, we are quite happy with Panda's Karate. The environment is inviting and puts you at your ease. The instructors are caring and encouraging - yet commanding, when necessary: it's just the perfect balance for instructing kids, and adults too for that matter. I highly recommend them!
