Our approach is fresh, experiential, and fun. We promote a family and friends-centric lifestyle, an attitude of togetherness and hospitality. Shady Creek Winery is a sprawling, 20-acre wine production facility with patios & porches, fireplaces & a tasting room. We feature custom-crafted wines, tasting rooms, specialty foods, gifts, and local artwork.
Bring your friends and share a plate of our fresh salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, or pizza. We are located just a mile south of the lakeshore. Our wines are produced from both local grapes as well as those from the west coast, allowing Shady Creek to have not just a regional wine list but one that boasts more than a half dozen big reds from west coast fruit.

I thought the ambiance was great and the addition looks like it is going to be really excellent for guests. However, I was told by an employee that my 19-month old could not be walking around on her own for safety reasons and because of other guest's experience. If you know anything about this age, you know they aren't contained well. They also do not have highchairs. They also don't have baby changing stations in restrooms. I recommend skipping this spot if you are a parent! They do not seem to support families.

This was my first time at Shady Creek and was very impressed. Great aesthetics. Fire place was nice for a winter afternoon. Nice, small menu. Great wine options (of course). Beautiful view in the rear. Can't wait to go back when trees are full and construction is complete.
Me and a friend ordered a panini and pizza to share. Honestly the pizza would have been perfectly fine for us. Food was good.
Things to note: Food and beverages are pay as you go and make a reservation in advance.

VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. We typically go to Baroda wineries but thought we’d try something new instead and drove all the way to Michigan City instead. Walked in to Shady Creek and apparently needed a reservation (had no idea), yet they sat other people who came in who didn’t have reservations (clearly they knew them). We went to the tasting bar, where we were told no glasses of wine could be purchased there - only tastings allowed. So we all spent $19 with tip on three tastings, equivalent to one $6 glass of wine. Makes sense, right? Then, there were two couple who were not together but

Celebrated a 40th birthday with a private wine pairing experience. It was an incredible evening and the staff were phenomenal. From the smallest of detail (birthday gals name printed on the menu) to the exceptional customer service we were blown away. We will all be back! The wine was so good and the food was stellar. Already looking forward to my next visit!

So.... yea. Horrible experience. Understand you are under construction but that is no excuse for 1) only a single bathroom with open electrical. 2) Rude because I asked if you only had one bathroom. 3) rude to the rest of my party when they asked us we could get flights in the back area.... yea but that's not easy for us
