Grande Mere Inn
Grande Mere Inn is a family owned and operated restaurant started in 1980 by Pete and Nancy Racine. The tradition of fine quality continues with their son Charley and his wife Tricia. The goal of the Racines has always been to provide a pleasurable dining experience; providing high quality food, friendly service, and a stunning view of Lake Michigan.

We have a cozy, cottage style dining room that is perched atop the Covert Ridge in Stevensville, Michigan, with a stunning view of Lake Michigan. The entire west side of our dining room has windows that overlook the Lake, and the sunsets are often spectacular. At night, one can occasionally see the lights from Chicago.

Great dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine for $100 with over a 20% tip included! We were impressed with the complimentary bread with pate and flavored butter! We split the seafood platter with lobster tail, stuffed shrimp, breaded perch, and blackened swordfish. The dish came with two sided and was plenty for two for $50. We were way too full but the dessert menu looked incredible!

Great restaurant to take family from out of town. Plenty of sea food dishes.
My favorite is the Filet Mignon - medium well.
Reason for 4 stars is the restaurant needs some minor improvements. They have a great decor but some things need to be updated without losing the decor.

Grande Mere is the restaurant where you just know the most important things will happen: good service, good food, full dining room. They're always busy, when they're open, so reservations are a must. Grande Mere reminds me of a country club: everyone knows everyone and they're all doing well. Not too formal but diners make an effort. I recommend because Grande Mere is traditional, has a good chef, and plenty of help. Which means they're doing something right. And did I mention the food is good?

The restaurant was closed, parking is across the street from hotel (make sure you drop your luggage off at the door before parking across the street 🤦‍♀️). The showers are very modern in the room and the room had a nice view of the capital building.

The oysters escargot salmon and steak were perfection. Our serverJamie provided exceptional service. Spectacular view of the lake. Host and busser provided the extra touch that can only be experienced in a truly fine dinning establishment.

We came back up to Southwest Michigan to attend a family wedding and attend funeral services for one of our parishioners' of our church in Coloma Michigan.
We visited several area restaurants in the area. We met a co-worker and his wife for dinner at the Grand Mere Inn. This is an upscale restaurant that charges the appropriate prices for their food in this area ( I mean not gouging tourists). Their service and food is always outstanding.
We started off with drinks. I have been complaining to my wife that so far the drinks have been a little off for dinner the past few days. But our drinks

We haven't been here for almost 10 years because we live about 45 minutes away, but finally got back this weekend. blackened swordfish strips for an appetizer was an amazing choice, and I'll probably select this as the entre the next time we visit, as it was amazing. salads and bread were good and the service was outstanding from our waitress/bartender (we sat at the bar).

my wife got the halibut special. I thought it was pretty good, but she thought it was just ok. I got the 7 oz. filet mignon and the lobster tail, which also came with veggies and some mushrooms. Honestly, the

Wonderful meal to end our visit to the area. We arrived a bit before our reservation and were still seated immediately. The dining room is very comfortable, with a casual charm and beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Everything came perfectly prepared. The seafood platter is well seasoned without overwhelming the individual portions. Clam chowder was very balanced, and the Alaskan Crab legs were outstanding. Even the simple garden salads were finished with obviously homemade dressing. Just a great overall experience, and definitely the start of a new family tradition.

My husband and I have been waiting for a special occasion to try one of the area's favorite restaurants, so when he surprised me by taking me to Grande Mere Inn on my birthday, I was delighted. The restaurant does not have outdoor seating but they placed us at a table next to the window with a spectacular view. With its hunter green walls and wooden ceiling, the decor evokes a sense of nostalgia from a bygone era of fine dining. The menu is uniform with specials that seemed to be a tad more creative, though no less delicious. I was absolutely thrilled with the entire experience and am excited

From the service to the dessert, everything here was fantastic.
We started the evening with hubby ordering Jack and Coke and myself a Coke. There was some delicious free bread offered to keep us from starving as we were both very hungry.

Hubby ordered the Duck and I went with the 1 lb Crab dinner. We both ordered the salad and red herbed potatoes. The bleu cheese and vinaigrette dressings were some of the best ever had. Hubby raved about the dressing. Both main courses were out of this world. I asked for my crab to be cracked open, since we were sitting in the bar at a 2 person table. Not

I've forgotten to put my review on here because I've been busy since I got back to my home state of Texas but I can finally put "pen to paper" so to speak. This should have been written on Oct 9, 2020.
First- The service. We had the best waitress. I don't remember her name but I do remember her smile and her wonderful, happy personality. She was super nice and was very willing to explain the dishes we were curious about. She recommended a great wine for me to pair with the meal and brought the food out in perfect time. She even went so far as to get me the recipe for the

Recommended by local friends while we were visiting, this restaurant did not disappoint! The brie and puff pastry appetizer was delightful, a whole triangle of delicious brie in a cherry glaze. My husband got the jumbo shrimp and I got the crab stuffed shrimp, both delicious. Enjoyed the cranberry bog martini, a cranberry version of a French martini. Finished it off with the bread pudding. Everything was great. The staff was delightful, helpful and extremely pleasant! We will be back the next time we visit. It started snowing the day we were there, but on a beautiful day the lake view from our

I was here with some friends recently for dinner. Overall the food was pretty good and the service was friendly. The ribeye, mixed veg, mushrooms, and red potatoes were all good. The creamy pepper dressing on the salad was pretty good. The lobster tail and shrimp were rubbery (overcooked). The coconut cream pie tasted ok but was gritty rather than smooth as one would normally expect. I would return to try some other things.

On the recommendation of a culinarily trusted friend, my partner and I chose the Grand Mere Inn for our Valentine's Day dinner. I have driven by it for years...and am now extremely glad that I had the pleasure to dine there. We live an hour away; the restaurant became our destination for this special occasion.

We arrived shortly before our 7:30 reservation time. We were greeted nearly immediately by a stately gentleman at the host stand. There were many couples/groups coming in for 7:30 seating, while other diners were leaving. To say it was busy is an understatement.

We were quickly

One of my favorite places when I come to visit my parents. I really like the duck and Michigan cherry dish. The swordfish is excellent. We usually eat in the bar section but the dining room has an excellent view. It's always busy when I go. And my dad knows a lot of the staff so they're super friendly and chatty with us.

Third time here. Quality is still high. Drinks very nicely made. I had scallops in a garlic butter sauce and they were large and well cooked, side of herbed red potatoes were perfect, and the bean and ham soup was excellent. Nice to see a quality restaurant maintain it's quality.

Grand Mere has been a family favorite for so long. I finally got to experience it for the first time and was not disappointed at all. I had the escargot appetizer, mushroom soup, and the walleye special and my husband had the duck with peppercorn sauce. Everything was delicious and the entire staff were very friendly, attentive, and fun. I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area again.

I'm torn in my rating for this place...3 stars seem too low and 4 stars seem too high.

We had a great view of the lake, great service, and I had great company...but for the prices of the food itself, greatness was lacking.

I have no complaints about what we ordered necessarily, other than the prices were way too high for what we got and it was nothing too special.

I thought the complimentary bread was gross but everyone I was with liked it (unless they were just being too polite to be real about it)

The dessert was just ok...nothing special.

Overall, I would go back if my friends

First let me start with I am very disappointed that I have to leave such a sad review. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for decades. My grandparents still reminisce over the time they used to spend on the dance floor back in the 70's (not there anymore). Grand Mere was always a family favorite whenever going out for dinner. Unfortunately, it looks like things are going downhill.

PRO'S:
- The view from this restaurant is fantastic if you want to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan.
- The duck with cherry sauce is very flavorful. The blackened swordfish appetizer is
