Grace United Methodist Pre School

Grace Preschool, founded in 1961, serves the Roland Park and Homeland communities and beyond by providing an excellent early learning program in an inviting and active environment. The intimate atmosphere offers a gentle introduction to school while maintaining high educational standards. Our school faculty is composed of highly qualified professionals including specialists in art, music, science, and gym.

At Grace, we believe that every child has the right to a safe and secure childhood. Having the confidence that they are being well cared for allows children to push their limits and explore their capabilities. Although each child has a different level of comfort, as they begin to explore their environment through social interactions, play, and learning, we ensure that all children at Grace feel cherished and protected.

All of our classrooms provide a text-rich environment to promote literacy and language development. Starting with our very youngest students, we encourage a love of reading and storytelling. We help develop early literacy skills through reading stories together, dramatic play, rhymes, and singing. As our children grow, we introduce letter recognition and phonetics organically through one on one interactions and group work.

At Grace, we believe that children learn best through hands-on projects. Our Twos start their math and science journey by learning about the seasons and basic counting skills. Every child sits down with the teacher to complete a project, one on one, every day, creating an ideal opportunity to introduce number skills and individualize your child's learning experience.

Kindergarten at Grace preschool is pretty special! We believe that our program accomplishes two things; we provide children with a year of growth and maturity with regard to academic and social/emotional development before entering into an independent school setting where children are often at the older end of the age spectrum, and we also prepare children entering First Grade in local public schools.
