Services
Visiting families tell us they are particularly impressed with Ice Cream & Shoe's peaceful, calm atmosphere, low student/teacher ratio, and the happiness of the children. Each classroom maintains its own morning program appropriate to the specific age and developmental range of its children. Students engage in a wide variety of activities while the teachers provide gentle guidance, strong encouragement and loving support.

The year spent in the Shoes class is a magical time when children transition into independent boys and girls. The class is for four-year-olds. Most of the children from this class will stay for another year in our oldest pre-k classes, the Frogs or Dragonflies, while some will move on to kindergarten or transitional-kindergarten. The teachers listen carefully to parents' goals for their child and everyone is prepared for their next transition.
Our art teacher invites small groups of children from each class into her art room to work on many different kinds of art projects. Some of the art she does with them is seasonal, while some is purely inspired by their surroundings and by their own imagination. However, the kind of art that is a favorite for the teachers and children alike is art that can be created from nature.
The admission process at Ice Cream & Shoe begins with a visit. Parents and their child are invited to view the school and ask questions about the program. If at that time parents wish to apply for enrollment they fill out an application and return it. Parents are notified of enrollment by letter. If you have been notified that a space is available for your child you need to send in a deposit in order to reserve the space.

Wonderful school, with the best spirit for little people to witness and remember all their lives. Every teacher is dedicated, loving and respectful of every child's personality. One of my grandchild graduated from there a few years ago, and little sister is enjoying the time of her life, running every morning to get to her classroom.
