As an optometrist in Durham, our primary eye care service includes a complete eye exam that analyzes eye health and vision function.
Lauren Ford, our receptionist here at Optix, will be happy to assist you in scheduling your appointment and will facilitate your visit in our office. She provides wonderful customer service and will be happy to help with all of your eye care needs. April Seale has over 20 years experience as an optician.
Please be aware when coming to Optix you will need to access our office by coming in the lobby entrance (Located at the back of our building between the restaurants, NOSH and NAAN Stop). Take the elevator to the 2nd floor. From the elevator, go out the glass doors facing Erwin Rd and turn left to our office on the corner of the building--Suite 201.

Best eye exam appointment ever! I was seen on time & was surprised that Dr. Newman himself did all of the diagnostics for my eyes, versus a technician - which is what I was used to having just relocated from CA. Dr. Newman was very patient & explained everything, every step of the way, in language I could understand. The receptionist was great too! Although they were booked into Nov., she was kind enough to call me when they had a cancellation & I was able to see the doctor just three days after I called. All in all, a great experience all around!

Final day of insurance, following a layoff due to COVID19. Noone was taking new patients, and very few offices were open. I gave the internet one final whirl and who do I see open but Optix Eye. I called and April LISTENED and HEARD my need for new glasses (bifocals on deck). She said "THAT sounds emergent to me. Come on in!" I walked in the door to be greeted by waiting, and masked, Dr. Newman. I have worn eyeglasses since age 11 and am now 45. In ALL my years, I've not enjoyed an eye appointment this much. He was just NICE. He listens, gives honest feedback, and was a pure joy

Recently, I was fortunate to obtain Vision Insurance. I did not want to return to the provider I had been seeing. So, I found Optix through my insurance carrier and scheduled a new patient appointment. From that first call and all through my visit, Dr. Newman and his staff were amazing. I appreciated how they took their time not only with me but other patients. They treated everyone with dignity and respect. I believe I will be a long time patient at Optix.

When I switched jobs a few years ago I had to find a new local optometrist due to new insurance and I'm so glad it happened. Dr. Newman is a gem! He's a great doctor and is very detail oriented. Listens to your concerns and does his best to come up with a solution. The Optician, April, is a really awesome too!

Dr. Newman and his staff are everything you hope to find in a medical practice and a retail shop. They provided stellar customer service, from finding a time to fit me in for a vision exam (as a new patient, within 1 hour of calling!) to patiently coaching me on how to insert and remove contact lenses for my second grand attempt at becoming a contacts-wearer. They even worked out all the numbers (on paper) so I could maximize my health FSA benefits before making a final decision on glasses frames. After a less-than-positive experience at MyEyeDr--what a positive surprise! I only wish I had found

I have been going to Optix for about 9 or 10 yrs. They have the best customer service you will ever experience! Dr. Newman is always professional and friendly, as well as April they have been like family to us. That's why we continue to get the best EyeCare and quality trendy frames from there. Although we moved, we still take the hour drive back to Optix. When you find good service, it's worth the drive!!!

Amazing customer service. Recently had my frames adjusted by Tammy, who was patient, kind, knowledgeable and friendly. Wearing glasses isn't fun to me, but the recent "fitting" for my frames makes it more enjoyable. No more sliding down my nose! All other staff is super helpful. I always receive appointments that work for my schedule. Doctor Newman is throrough and gentle. I feel secure in their care.

I was recently referred to Dr. Newman by another eye doctor. I had met the other doctor while on vacation and was commenting on how my current prescription (contacts and glasses) was just not working for me. I had been back to the previous eye doctor on several occasions trying to get the prescription correct, but finally settled on what was "the best she could do". I continued to grow frustrated by the inability to read anything without having to constantly adjust the distance I was holding the item. My distance vision was much easier to deal with, but I noticed that highway signs

I will never go back here again. I moved here and randomly selected Optix, based on its good reviews. Staff was amazing, however, I had to wait an hour to be seen to by the optometrist. He was nice, but not even slightly apologetic (Staff totally was). He insisted, even though I had signed a waiver to avoid it, on dilating my eyes. After dilating my eyes, I went back to the waiting room where the Dr made me wait ANOTHER hour to check my eyes. All in all, spent 2.5 hrs here where usually I can get in and out of an optometrist in half an hour.

The staff at Optix are a level above when it comes to customer service and friendliness. Dr. Newman doesn't hesitate to answer what are probably mundane questions from me about my eyes and the care that they should be receiving. An excellent experience!!! I highly recommend Dr. Newman and his staff to anyone in need of basic eyesore. His office was comfortable and conveniently located. His staff was friendly and courteous and he took great efforts to run on time. Plus, his eyewear selection was very good. I have gotten both glasses and contacts from his office and will continue to do so in the future.

I had a nasty eye infection during finals week so I really needed quick and effective care. The optometrist and staff was so friendly and helpful during everything and they made my case a priority. They cured my eye quickly and I was ready to go for finals.
If you happen to have an issue with your eye or plan on getting contacts or glasses, these are the people to deal with! They're super nice and friendly and will be very helpful.

I came into Optix to get my interpupillary distance measured, glasses adjusted, and look at frames. The woman at the counter informed me that all persons qualified to adjust glasses and calculate the distance had left for me day, before the store closed. I was interested in the specs for a particular pair, she was not interested in helping me, took the frames out of my hands and advised me to find the information somewhere on the internet, and hung them back up. I have never felt so unwelcome at an eye doctors office before. I drove down the street to WOLDORFF FAMILY OPTOMETRY, PA and got my glasses

A had a very good experience at Optix, Dr. Newman did everything himself (no nurses like at a lot of clinics) and he was very friendly. They stayed on schedule so I didn't have to wait for my appointment and Dr. Newman worked quickly without rushing.
They had a good selection of glasses although not as big as other places i'm sure. The got the glasses made for me in about 3 business days and they work great.
