Virginia Pediatric Eye Center provides a range of services including eye exams, specialized imaging and testing, and surgical interventions. Below is an overview of the services we offer. We welcome email inquiries and feedback by email. However, email is not intended for emergencies or urgent requests. If you need an immediate response, please call our office.
The optical shop is located in our Virginia Beach office and is open for appointments only Mon-Fri 9:00-12:30 and 1:30-4:30. It also is open for appointments on select Saturday mornings. Please call us at 757-461-0050 extension 4 to schedule an appointment to try on our wide selection of glasses, to pickup your glasses orders, or for any repairs.
Many patients have both vision insurance (for example, VSP, Davis Vision, or EyeMed) and medical insurance (for example, Anthem, Aetna, Optima, or Medicaid). They are very different in terms of the services they cover, and it is important for our patients to understand these differences. Our office does not make these rules; they are made by the insurance companies, and we must comply with them.
The doctors at Virginia Pediatric Eye Center diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions. Below are a few of the problems we frequently manage. Sometimes called "lazy eye, " this is a condition that occurs in children when one eye has poorer vision than the other. Amblyopia can have serious, permanent effects on a child's vision.

When it comes to eyes and eye care, it’s a foreign language to me . Coming here was by far the BEST decision I made when it comes to taking care of my son’s vision . The optometrist was super helpful, he kept my son comfortable & listened to every concern I had . Then their optical center blew me out of the water . The woman in there is seriously the sweetest person I’ve met in 2021, she helped us find the best frames & explained everything I asked . She even helped me score the only thing on my sons Christmas list this year, I seriously hope that she’ll be there every time I’ve got to

The only time I have ever been able to call and get someone on the phone, was when I scheduled the first appt. The first time I called they answered, although I specifically requested an ophthalmologist and was assured my daughter’s appt was with one, when we arrived we saw an optometrist. She hadn’t seen her regular ophthalmologist due to COVID, and I just wanted an up to date prescription for her glasses so I rolled with it. The Dr was great and explained things well. We had a wait for over 30 mins to order glasses, but that went smoothly. The staff were what you should expect, courteous

My teen needed to be seen for an eye injury for field hockey. From the moment I called the office the staff was warm, friendly, compassionate and caring. They were able to schedule us very quickly and work us in to the schedule for any vision changes she had during treatment. I can’t say enough about the level of professionalism Dr. Crouch and his entire staff showed my daughter and I. I highly recommend this office for anyone needing medical care for vision issues. We traveled 45 minutes (from the Peninsula) to be seen to feel like my daughter was being seen by the best. And i am glad we did

Dr. Bejarano is a wonderful surgeon! She examined my eyes to determine the best course of action to repair my right eye that had been drifting on it's own since 2013.
I had been having terrible headaches associated with the drifting in my right eye.
After the surgery, my eye stays centered and my headaches have disappeared for good!!
I highly recommend Dr. Laura Bejarano and Virginia Pediatric Eye Center!!

Jennifer in the Eye clinic always shows my daughter love, patience and compassion. We are not local and Jennifer makes the trip worth while. THE WORST STAFF EVER, ANYWHERE, They will never keep up with appts, they definitely will NOT call you back, ever, I have had to drive back out there just to talk to someone multiple times. This place is very unprofessional, & that's being kind!!
We have been to Virginia pediatric eye care several times at the old location never had a problem with them. Went to the new location today for a re-examination and new glasses, the doctor was very thorough, the doctor did redo our granddaughter's prescription however to my knowledge no glasses were ordered and they let us leave without ordering new glasses
