Alfred Porter was the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Porter, who moved to the Old Mission Peninsula in 2853 and lived very close to where the Inn stands today. They resided in a farmhouse, which was located on the corner of Center and Old Mission Road. The building no longer exists. He married Ella K. Johnson, daughter of Captain Frederick L. Johnson, also from the Old Mission Peninsula.
With our rocking chairs lining our 135 foot veranda, you can sit and relax with a glass of your favorite wine after a day of wine tasting at any of Old Mission Peninsula's 9 Wineries. Enjoy a game of horse shoes or a game of corn hole. Or perhaps stretch out and read a book on one of our oversized hammocks while watching the sailboats go by.
Apple accents throughout! Boasts 2 separate bedrooms, 1 Lighthouse themed and the other The Captain's Quarters. Enjoy the incredible views of Lake Michigan, overlooking the Mission Harbor of the East Grand Traverse Bay. Private walkout entrance onto our 135-foot deck, with private outside dining table and rocking chairs right outside your room.

Don't pass on an opportunity to have an experience you won't soon forget! This is an absolutely stunning setting with the most charming hosts. They have done a fabulous job of creating a clean and safe environment in these covid-crazy times. Limiting guests to adults make this a great get-away. So much to do and see on the peninsula with beaches and beautiful water to access. You can watch the sunrise and moonrise from the hammock on the front lawn. Daily breakfast is an added delight. We WILL be back....

My husband and I stayed at the Old Mission Inn for a weekend away and some brewery and wine tasting tours in the awesome Wineries of the Mission Peninsula. We were greeted by the son Tyler and later Angie & Bruce. The place is not only very comfortable and clean, but also in a beautiful spot on the northern most part of the peninsula. Breakfast and coffee in the morning were delicious. The history of the B&B is also very interesting! we stayed in the Essence of Ivy room.

The Old Mission Inn is more than just a hotel, its like visiting family. The owners run the inn and have taken great steps to preserve the history of the hotel, oldest continuous hotel in Michigan dating back to 1869. The history of this Michigan landmark has been preserved in the articles on the walls and items throughout. The Jensen's make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive, offering stories of the inn and friendly banter. A real learning experience as you are drawn in by their historical enthusiasm. The hotel is extremely well maintained especially when you think of the age of

Spent the weekend here for a friends wedding. An adorable place! The inn keepers are so friendly and hospitable. The rooms are clean, updated, and very thoughtfully decorated with antiques and vintage charm. They make a simple hot breakfast to order. The view to the water is beautiful and the have a great horseshoe pit, bonfire ring, play area for kids and hammocks for lounging. I would highly recommend this quaint place to anyone. Very affordable too!!!

We stayed at Old Mission Inn, on a recent trip up to the area for some wine tasting and to check out the fall colors. The Jensens were so welcoming and friendly! Their enthusiasm for the history of the area and their property was contagious, and we learned quite a bit about the inn's history from them. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The bathrooms were shared, which we didn't expect, but we didn't have any issues. Breakfast was made to order and delicious! I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay there and would gladly come back if we find ourselves in the area again.
