The Taustine Eye Center is Louisville's leading eye surgery, research and care practice. Created over 30 years ago by Dr. Lloyd Taustine, we have been the first practice in the area to adopt many new procedures for advanced diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and disorders. Dr. Lloyd Taustine opened the Taustine Eye Center in 1978 with a goal to provide the best quality eye care in the region. He has performed many vision "firsts" and still remains totally committed to quality care for his patients. With over 30 years of experience and tens of thousands of cases of microscopic surgery performed on the eye, Dr. Lloyd Taustine continues to be on the leading edge of surgical advancements in his field.
Dr. James Hurt has been practicing at the Taustine Eye Center since 1985. He is a native of New Albany, IN. He attended Anderson University for his undergraduate studies and graduated in 1984 from the School of Optometry at Indiana University. During his final year of study, he completed externships at the Ireland Army Hospital in Ft.
The Taustine Eye Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Victor Neamtu to our practice. Dr. Neamtu is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in diseases and surgery of the retina. He is particularly interested in ocular complications of diabetes and macular degeneration.
Dr. Neamtu graduated from the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering and computer science with a minor in biology.He then went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky.

I have been going to Taustine eye center for over 30 years! I can't say enough great things about it. Dr. Hurt has been my doctor there the entire time, and I always feel that I get the best care possible. He knows me and my family and always asks about them. He is personable and professional. I wouldn't trust my eye care to anyone else!

I have worked with Dr. Sulkowski as my glaucoma specialist for over five years (before that, Dr. Williams for several years). As a surgeon, physician, and eye-care expert Dr. Sulkowski is second to none. The office runs smoothly and on-time, and all staff I’ve encountered are professional, well-trained, and friendly. As well, the doctors listen to your questions and concerns, always. When it comes to going the extra mile in vision care and treatment, Taustine Eye Center gets a high grade.

I have been going here for all my life. Nurses are super nice and don't mind answering all sorts of questions. I see Dr Hurt for my regular eye exams and he's one of the best! Always willing to listen to my concerns and questions. I got cataracts at an early age (compared to most ) and Dr Taustine did my surgeries. And all I can say is thank you Dr T for giving me my sight back. I have always been really near-sighted with a lot of astigmatism and I'm now basically 20/25 in both eyes. It's such a joy to wake up in the morning and to be able to just see! Nothing blurry or fuzzy

They lost my paperwork multiple times, then lost me during an appointment. Where I had to wait with dilated eyes for over an hour in a bright room. (My partner put down the blinds for me to help after awhile and had to keep them closed because of the pain) Then was told I didn't need glasses or reading glasses even though I've been wearing them since I was a child...Not to mention other people I know who tried to make appointments and never got call backs and went somewhere else. Seriously never again! I'm going to get a second opinion!

My heart is at ease after seeing Dr. Taustine. The staff is so sincere, professional, and sweet. Dr. T is a true gentleman, careful, precise, and a pleasure to be around. After leaving his office my anxious heart was at ease, and I could breathe a sigh of relief knowing someone of his caliber had me taken care of.

I've been going here for years. Nurses are always sweet and helpful. Dr. Sulkowski always takes the time to answer questions. This place is great for yearly eye medical checkups under a specialist, or for patients with family history of glaucoma.
Dad sees Dr. Hurt. He always makes sure to take the time needed to check everything containing to his eyes. Great place for eye surgeries needed of any kind.
It's nice to go to a Dr office where the Drs and nurses have been there for years, so you build trust in each other.

I am always nervous about going to doctor's appointments. But, the doctors at the Taustine Eye Center make you feel at ease. The entire staff is friendly from the girls at the front desk, the girls who take you back to the exam rooms, to the doctors. They all love answering all your questions and clearly care about you as a person not just as another patient that comes and goes. I highly recommend going to the Taustine Eye Center!! You won't regret it.

You might not always have a pleasant experience at a doctor's office, but you do at the Taustine Eye Center. I saw Dr. Hurt the first time and he really knows how to make a patient feel at ease. Most recently I saw Dr. Sulkowski. Apparently he replaced a doctor who had been there for many years and they sure got a good replacement in Dr. Sulkowski. He is nice as can be and you can tell he cares about all of his patents. Thanks Taustine Eye Center!!
