Food was good but service was the real shining star.
We were attended to very promptly after seating. Cocktail orders and ice water came quickly. The waitress, Emily was absolutely perfect in her demeanor, timing, efficiency and level of attentiveness! We both had the fish chowder and split a fried zucchini appetizer. All was good. We also had the broiled walleye and the blackened walleye. Both were cooked to perfection. Definitely will be back!

Cool pub right by the harbor where you can get some fried whitefish and a beer. I have visited during the summer and it can get really busy. Plan to go during non-peak hours, and you'll be glad you did. Enjoy!

Excellent!!! Chicken pot pie and Villager Burger were very good, great taste and portions. Also tried three desserts, chocolate mousse, key lime pie, and raspberry creme brulee; ALL were excellent as well. Service was excellent as well. Definitely worth the visit when in Charlevoix.

I ate the blackened white fish. It was delicious. Dipped my fries in the tartar sauce. Nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed the outdoor table. Good service.

I must have been there on an off day considering other reviews.
Ordered the whitefish sandwich. A 3"x4" tail end of the filet, soggy bun a small bit of lettuce and a handful of broken chips $14. Was buying my friend a birthday lunch. She had the same plate. Extra order of onion rings was very good. Add 2 soft drinks and you've got yourself a $50 lunch. Very disappointed.

First time here. I love fish and chips so based on the reviews here I had to try it. The whitefish sandwich didn't disappoint (despite what a few others have complained about here. Stress on the word few). I had a later lunch so it wasn't as busy as I imagine it normally is. Host got me right in and was nice enough. Waitress was very friendly (and busy), and got me my food very quickly. If I come up to this part of Michigan again I'll be back!

The fish and chips, burgers and pot pie are best in Michigan! Experienced servers who work hard during a time when no one can find enough help. Love it here.

I understand having a bad day, and I understand having a rough week. I always give people the benefit of the doubt. I defend bad service sometimes as someone just having a bad day and to be kind. But I also know that I've never been made to feel so horrible as I was the other afternoon by who we now understand was the owner of this establishment. I was completely embarrassed, a big scene was made as he threatened to fire someone over something that didn't happen. He was not willing to listen to anything that was said and we chose to leave instead of the employee getting fired. I used

Very busy place on a Sunday evening. The onion rings were great, the blackened whitefish sandwich was very good.
The service was exceptional, and the place was running like a well-oiled machine.

Had two experiences here over the course of a few days. The first stop in we were able to get an outdoor spot, and had a great waitress. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about.

The second trip we made there, was kind of out of desperation, as a lot of the other places were closed for some reasons. The manager was extremely rude when I tried asking how long the wait was. I had also heard him being rude to the hostesses the night before.

I wouldn't go back.

In from out of town, had the deep fried "white" fish sandwich. I attempted to eat this nastiness ... skin and brown sludge. The waitress told me they have to leave the skin on or it would fall apart in the deep fryer?? Umm I've eaten fried white fish before, thank you! And when I order "white" fish, it should be white... not brown skin included (wonder why that's not the menu description?) hahahaha. Also, pretty tasteless. My appetite was turned. I'd rather eat subway and I hate subway.

Don't get it.

Avoid.

Let me be super clear: THE WHITEFISH = 5 STARS!
Overall, this place gets an OK from us. Unfortunately one of the times we were here, I ordered a wet burrito. I'm not sure why wet burritos are on so many menus in north Michigan restaurants, but they are. I happen to love them if they are good... but this was far from good. Under impressed with service, menu, the vibe -- not a place I want to spend another $100 out for lunch with the family.

One look at this 1980's menu...I should have known better. A stale wine, flavorless fish tacos and the blandest spaghetti ever. Don't waste your time. No staff was masked either...we're vaccinated and sat outside.

This place was right by the water which was nice. The restaurant is interesting, there is a bar side when you walk in and if you want a booth you get to go next door. The bathroom is downstairs in the basement. The staff was friendly. The food was very underwhelming though. It wasn't bad it was just bland and overpriced for what we got.

Great atmosphere and the first day restaurants allowed to reopen in the pandemic. So it seemed mostly locals in for lunch. No whitefish so I had perch, friend had walleye. We ordered lunch menu dinners, large portions; gave one piece to my friend and did actually eat all the rest. (Do wish restaurants served smaller portions, which is why I opt for lunch time to eat out as opposed to dinner where too much is served.) Nice on tap beer selection. Bit high on prices - $27 for one order fish and a beer.

I'd give this restaurant ZERO stars if I could honestly... today was my first time visiting Charlevoix with family and some friends and I was quickly disappointed! The moment we walked in you could just tell the staff didn't care about following COVID protocols. All of the staff I saw were not wearing masks, nor were multiple customers wandering the restaurant. Furthermore, they did not have it so every other booth was available, instead they had every table open like there's no pandemic at all. It was extremely busy; claustrophobic even with people coughing mask-less. We sat down

OMG! This is the place to get your fish and chips fix!!!
We never miss a whitefish or walleye meal when we are up north and this one is one of my faves!
We rented the cabin from a nice, older gentleman, Tom, who told us he meets his buddies here every Wednesday and recommended the fish and chips. I am so glad we listened to him, lol.
We ordered a 3-pc walleye and a 3-pc whitefish dinner, approx $40 altogether, which I thought would be too much for two people but we ate it all. They have a good set up during this pandemic with many takes outside, wrapping around the corner. We ordered take

The Villager Pub was a nice place with good food. Me and my girlfriend were sat outside and were taken care of almost immediately. Our waitress was fairly friendly and answered all of our confusing questions. We ordered the coconut shrimp for a starter and it was fantastic. For our entree I ordered the fish a chips and my girlfriend ordered the white fish sandwich. The fish and chips were average but the whitefish sandwich was unbelievably good. It tasted fresh and the batter didn't over power the fish yet the taste of the batter was still there and it was great. (Even over the phone they

Went for dinner with party of 8 , very good service on drinks and very attentive. The food however very mediocre bar food . Walleye was not crisply broiled it was more like steamed . No butter came w baked potato even though I asked. I'd say if you want drinks and burgers it's a good choice but everything g else was mediocre . The patty melt was good but a bit too much bread .

A little stop on our way back to grand traverse. They had outdoor seating which was nice because we had the dog. The food was tasty and lots of choices for the kids. Service was great (although the hostess and wanted to seat 6 of us at a table for 4 so she could get another party seated. That wasn't ideal and they acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us have 2 tables. Sorry, not sorry. Aside from that the experience and food were great!
