Striving to bring you the best, Vernales has dedicated itself to find a way to bring you the best in beef. This new menu will put our steak and chop offerings "on the map, " making us one of the select few Steak Houses in American to offer ALL American Wagyu Beef-at an affordable cost! What is American Wagyu?
Other than Kobe beef, it is some of the finest beef available. Wagyu beef is commonly referred to as Kobe-style beef. For many years the Japanese have selectively been breeding herds and closely monitoring them for purity and traceability. They developed this breed with an emphasis on quality.

Decent place, don’t get a steak. Used to be a good steakhouse. Get the fries or spaghetti. Sorry I was so disappointed I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think I’ve had a worse steak anywhere else in my life. Well, we used to go to Ponderosa. The entrée was $50, The salad was an add-on and I tried to get onion rings instead of mashed potatoes and they charge me five dollars. So for $65 I got about 6 1/2 ounces of dried up ribeye that their menu said was a 12 ounce prime ribeye steak.

LOVED IT HERE. I actually have been here once before... and didn't care too much for it. But you should always give places a second chance! I went here with my family over Thanksgiving weekend, and had a completely different experience! Everything was decorated for Christmas time, and it was so aesthetically pleasing! There were live Christmas trees and twinkle lights everywhere. It created such a lovely atmosphere. And everyone's entrees were so delicious! One thing I actually really favored... their hot chocolate! It tasted so good and the whip cream was delicious! And the best of all

A new favorite!!! We are retired foodies who visit the north of the lower peninsula of Michigan every year to see the gorgeous fall leaves and to visit excellent restaurants. We discovered Vernales on our stay in Harbor Springs. We stopped for a late lunch and we were so glad we did. Fantastic food and great service. I had penne pasta in a garlic Parmesan sauce with blackened sirloin tips and my wife enjoyed a lobster tail. Our server, Jerry, was excellent and the food outstanding. We liked it so much we booked a table for the following Saturday evening. I had the OMG Burger… Half pound of wagyu

I can't recommend this place as the fish the three pieces that you get for 21.95 as the fish didn't take good and the fries were warm not hot and crispy the people next to us order penne pasta with shrimp and got 2 shrimp in it. So the kitchen apologized and gave them 20 percent off their bill then I saw the bar tender bring out a dinner salad with a white dressing on it..it almost looks like it was drowning..
So I can't recommend this restaurant

Out-of-town visitors to Harbor Springs. The hostess (?, at front) could not have been more pleasant, and our server was also pleasant and VERY efficient/attentive. They accommodated our staggered arrival with "no problem". The food was yummy -- three different pastas and seafood.
CoVid made a big celebration of our friends' 50th anniversary impossible -- but with a mere mention, the server brought a banner complimentary dessert that allowed them a memorial token of the event (thank you!). It's no wonder the parking lot has been brimming with cars each time we passed.

I consider myself to be a connoisseur of steaks. I've been in central and northern Michigan all summer, visiting and exploring. I tried a few so-called steakhouse's and they were pitiful. But I hit the jackpot with Vernales. The Kansas City Wagu grass fed steak is outstanding, cooked to perfection. My partner had a filet mignon, distinctly different in taste, but still superb. This is the real deal.

Beautiful evening celebrating my husband & mother-in-law's birthday! We had a party of 8 and were seated promptly and our server was amazing (sad thing is I forgot her name!) My husband and brother in law ordered the Tomahawk steak and it was cooked to perfection. We all had a verity from pastas to steaks! Everything was well cooked and delicious. Great place for a special evening.

Special of the night which should be very good (note NOT excellent) skirt steak Oscar. The crab Oscar should be called crab AWFUL. . Mushy crab cake from Cysco. Any chef should be ashamed to serve such a dish. The servers were great so a 15% tip was appropriate but I will never go to Vernales again. ThT location has had several unsuccessful restaurants so maybe it's bad karma.Get a frozen dinner and save the expense.

So I've never dined in person at Vernales, so this review is for take out only. We ordered one of their dinners during the takeout restaurant week, the 10oz steak. It was amazing, especially for a takeout experience! Hopefully once dining in becomes an option again, we'll have the chance to do that half as well.

We checked in at the Best Western and asked about nearby food areas that were good. She did suggest Vernales and provided a 10% off coupon. We checked in pretty late at about 9:10 and the restaurant closed at 10. It was a short distance away and I did call ahead. The employee said it was open, no reservation needed, and the full menu is available.
We were seated immediately and it was pretty empty, most likely due to covid. The staff member was super friendly and gave us options. They asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor and then what seating area as well.
Our waitress came right away and took

When traveling trough this town we stopped in for dinner and it was amazing. We are so happy we stopped! We enjoyed the friendly service from the staff. The place was very clean and defintely a classy place. The wine and beer menu selections they offered was very extensive. We looked over the menu and went with the huge Tomohawk Steak and Lobster tail special for two. It was amazing and breath taking to see the size of this thing... The flavors were mouth watering.... Very fresh tasting food that was well plated. We enjoyed our visit and would gladly stop back again anytime we are in the

Quite an interesting spot! We've driven past this place for years without trying it so the last time we were in Harbor Springs last weekend, we were determined to give it a try.
As other Yelpers have noted, it's really 3 separate venues, each with a different vibe.
We were initially seated in the "chop house" & weren't wild about it. REALLY bright lighting (??), two loud tables - not what we were looking for, so asked to move to the wine cellar. Hostess was very understanding and our waitress, Lisa, was VERY professional & accommodating. Drinks & wine were nice

Visited in the beginning of November with 5 girls - able to grab a seat right away. They offered us the sports bar but we preferred the quieter side of the restaurant. Our server was super nice, very open and informative.
Calamari and Brussel Sprout Apps were awesome! I have never had brussel sprouts like that - really good!
I had the wedge salad with Salmon on it - large piece of salmon for a reasonable add on price. Salmon was cooked perfect for me - more on the medium well side.
Girls that got steaks loved them!
Caesar salad with salmon also went over very well.
Grabbed a flour-less chocolate

7,500 square foot restaurant. One room is a large Sports Bar.
Then another room is the Chop House (aka: fine dinner dining) and another room is the Wine Cellar (aka: upscale drinking).
We had lunch in the Sports Bar and it was fabulous.
They serve lunch 11am-4pm and Dinner 4pm-10pm.
DEFINITELY try the:
Seafood Mac & Cheese (crab, lobster, and shrimp tossed with penne pasta, baked in an Italian four cheese blend w/ bread crumbs and truffle oil)
Garlic bone-in buffalo chicken wings. Outstanding.
Also, they have an excellent selection of American Wagyu beef (steaks and burgers).
