Services
The Pig is a barbecue restaurant off Weaver Dairy Road in Chapel Hill, North Carolina that features whole-hog barbecue made with local, pasture-raised, antibiotic and hormone free pork. We believe in using the whole pig, so in addition to barbecue our menu features everything from house-made hotdogs and bologna to Vietnamese Pork Cheek.
What started as a BBQ joint has evolved into an incredible line of meats you can find at grocery stores, markets and restaurants throughout the region. Check out our meats and your taste buds will thank you. Lady Edison are premium hams, aged an average of 18 months in a style and flavor profile similar to serrano or prosciutto.
Venture behind The Pig (if you dare) and you'll find PiggyBack, our neighborhood bar. PiggyBack serves creative cocktails, a curated selection of local and imported beers and some of our favorite wines from around the world. Hungry? No problem. Order tacos, snacks and sandwiches from our bar menu. You may also find ham and charcuterie plates featuring our very own Lady Edison meats.
Let us make your next event memorable! The Pig can provide our delicious BBQ, sides and desserts for your next party, wedding or corporate event. Our Pig Picnic starts with pulled pork and two sides, plus buns, pickles and sauces for $12 per person. You can add smoked chicken, brisket, additional sides, beverages and desserts and we also offer ability to substitute BBQ tempeh.

Worst BBQ ive had. Coleslaw was yellow! Pork was dry, it was either microwaved or broiled. Chicken was dry and drenched in sauce to appear newly made. Hushpuppies were the size of funnel cake strings. Nacho cheese was HARD. We ate outside seating because their dining room was closed, which is fine.

The Pig catered our post-wedding lunch and they were wonderful! So easy to work with, communicative, very affordable, and -- most importantly -- delicious! We had many out-of-town guests who had never had NC BBQ, and they couldn't stop raving about it! I'm a vegetarian, and I love their tempeh BBQ. Plus, their sides are incredible -- we got mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and grits. I highly recommend The Pig for your event!

The PiggyBack is next door to The Pig. Quite a unique place in that the PiggyBack is a private club. They charge a penny to join the club. It takes a few minutes to join during your first visit by filling in an application, and then you get a membership card to purchase adult beverages. A cold beer washes down a BBQ plate from The Pig very nicely!.

Don't go here if you're looking for a BBQ restaurant like Smithfield or Bullocks. The pulled pork is good, but everything else bears little resemblance to traditional eastern NC BBQ. Also, this restaurant operates as if there is no Covid-19 vaccine in the world. There is no dine-in option. You order through an intercom and your food is pushed out a port in the door in a plastic tote. There are picnic tables you can use in a courtyard area.

The Pig catered our son's 2nd birthday party at Duke Park, and it was awesome. Leading up to the event, they were super easy to work with, accommodating, and helpful, and, on the day of, the food was well packaged, on-time, and super tasty. Gold stars. A+. Bonus points for the BBQ tempeh.

Visiting from out of town and my mom raved about this place- I'm so happy we came!!! Vinegar BBQ sauce is my absolute favorite and the pulled pork is dope and I love that the hushpuppies come like a funnel cake. Visit here!!! Don't forget the fried green tomatoes!!

The BBQ itself was good as was the cider vinegar sauce, but I was underwhelmed by the rest. ..
The fried green tomatoes were coated in breadcrumbs that tasted like Italian breadcrumbs. They were greasy and tough. I could barely cut them with a knife.
The hushpuppies are not round so they soak up more grease to batter. they are like long like french fries. There were cold and tough. They taste like squiggles of grease.
The slaw obviously has a lot of mustard or tumeric to make it that yellow.

The Pig is right up on top as being 1 of the best bbq restaurants that I've ever tried. From the blending of inventive flavors of the Beet/bleu cheese salad and the roasted shroom/sprouts to the perfectly cooked pulled pork and brisket. Even the hush puppies were amazingly light and yummy. I was in heaven. We will most definitely be making the 45 min drive just to dine at The Pig!

I ordered the ribs which were not very good. The meat was very fatty and not tender I returned it for the rib tips, which was much better. My friends had the gumbo, which was delicious. The mac and cheese and beef brisket were also very good.

Delicious, not pretentious, and friendly neighborhood bbq joint. The pimento cheese fries are to die for, and the fried green tomatoes are the best in town. Their pickles are addictive so watch out! So far everything we've tried has been spectacular. Especially if you hit it on a day when cheese grits and/or the pastrami are on special. Pictured are pork tongue tacos, catfish plate, and cheese fries.

The BEST Italian Grinder, ever!! My coworker turned me on to the place when I ate the BEST ribs at his BBQ, last year!! I had forgotten about this place until he said he was bringing some ribs to the office party next week!! I couldn't wait!! Yes, I bought half rack ribs for dinner tonight and had half sandwich and added chips for lunch!! Now, the sandwich isn't on the menu but it's on the board inside restaurant!! Absolutely, mouthwatering delicious and flavorful!! 😁👍
