The chicken was dry and the service was horrible. I called to make a pick up order and was on hold for over 5 minutes. No one answered the phone. Finally went in to make an order. Got home and my order was completely wrong.

Great Hawaiian grill. The large platters can feed a few and the tacos are great. They have a good website so ordering takeout is very easy.

Ah, the food was good! Searching for fast foods and this place popped up. The food took longer than expected, but worth the wait. Pulled pork tacos was good, and the kalbi tacos were also good. Kalbi tacos came with pickled jackfruit, which was surprisingly refreshing. Wouldn't have guessed that you could pickle jackfruit.

Flat Waves provided excellent tacos, very fresh ingredients, in a fairly unobtrusive setting. My family, after a beach day, decided to give Flat Waves a try. We had some of their food before delivered by a restaurant/farm share (we live in RI). That food was good but the freshly made dinner here was great! I had a ginger beef taco and shrimp taco. Both were quite fresh and the ginger beef in particular was really tasty. I also ordered grilled veggies that were a step above too. My wife and daughters enjoyed their meals too (quesadillas and tacos). The sides of guacamole and pico were freshly made

It’s not often that our 7 year-old agrees with her 14 year-old sibling, and both parents, but in this case we all agree that Flat Waves Food Shack produces phenomenal food. Every single element of each of our dishes was delicious. The proteins are great by themselves, the almost famous sauces add another layer of tastiness, both experiences are equally enjoyable and unforgettable. You can also feel good eating here knowing that they are making quite a few environmentally responsible decisions.

Last night we decided to visit to try out some tacos! So glad we stopped in! These tacos were so delicious and had a major tropical taste to them and the seating area outside was awesome! It was beach-like and tropical!

I had to order three for myself because I just couldn't decide!! I went with: (1st pic, left to right)

Shrimp Taco: prepared with Grilled Shrimp with Asian sesame slaw, pickled red onion, and pickled tropical salsa!

GRILLED CHICKEN: Grilled BBQ chicken, cheddar cheese, mixed greens, sour cream and pico de gallo!!

KALUA PULLED PORK: Made with their smoked "Kalua

Had never been in. When i walked in they informed me most of the menu (grill items) were unavailable because they had no grill cook om duty. So we ordered a salad and a rice bowl. The food had potential - sauce was good and the greens were fresh but the pork was too salty (and i love salty stuff). I was disappointed i couldn't try other things. Hopefully it was just an off day for them.

Simply delicious and nutritious. The options are better than any fast food places. Good size portions and fresh. Definitely coming back. They offer outside seating.

I got the Pulled Pork Rice Bowl and the Grilled Chicken Quesadilla. The portions are huge and pretty good too. The only complaint I would have would be that some of the sauces that came with the Quesadillas didn't really go together

Solid açaí bowl. Actually use 100% açaí purée! Fresh fruits. High quality. Price and ingredients beats any others bowl I have found in Newport!

We had the pulled pork wrap! It had rice and lettuce in there too! The sauce on the sauce on the side really topped it off. I would definitely go again. Pretty good pricing on everything too!

My spouse and I went for lunch while vacationing in Newport. It was nice to get out of the crowds. I had beach nachos, and my spouse had the steak quesadillas with a side of guacamole. The quesadilla also came with a side of house made hoisin sauce, which was delicious. The pineapple and mango salsa was refreshing on a hot summer day.
We ate outside at a picnic table with a fenced off area that was decorated nicely with flowers and beach themed objects. It felt private and fit well with the theme of the restaurant.
The staff was friendly and eager to help, and the food arrived quickly.

Ordered take out with co-workers, this time I ordered the Berry Bowl and my co-worker ordered pulled pork taco and mashusi. The food arrived before wait time which pleased everyone. All tasted excellent.

I really have a hard time writing a review and knowing how many stars to give because while I like the idea of having a Hawaiian place around, however it is not exactly Hawaiian food and it is not really close to traditional at all. I know they don't claim to be traditional and to be their own version but it always leaves me feeling a tad bit disappointed. This past time I got the shoyu chicken, I liked the marinade they put it in but I found the chicken to be overall dry and hard to eat. Absolutely love this little Food Shack!

They offer a variety of tacos, with an overall just fresh taste. I ordered the Kalbi Tacos and it comes with rice and macaroni salad. I ordered a side of Spam Musubi. Their teriyaki sauce is given by asking for it and it's also very delish.

The customer service is great and they definitely gave me recommendations on the first night & I would stop in for lunch throughout the week.

Having their hours posted on Yelp was very clutch! I overall recommend this gem to anyone in the Middletown area

I have worked on Aquidneck Ave for a few years and have driven by so many times. I've heard coworkers talk about their food but hadn't tried them.

My husband ended up having Flat Waves one day on a whim for a lunch and loved it. Since then we have ordered online and picked up for our new found tradition of "Takeout Thursday".

The portions are pretty big, I always do the small bowl and end up saving some for the next day. My favorite sauce is the sweet chili. Highly recommend springing for the egg on top, it makes it so delicious! Without the sauces the bowls are bland so

Visiting in Newport and thought I’d drop in for an early dinner and was not disappointed. Their shoyu chicken plate is absolutely delicious and very filling. The chicken is on the sweeter side, so the macaroni salad helped balance it out. They also offer shaved ice, which was so good we came a second time just for it. For an additional fifty cents you can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to your shaved ice and it’s so creamy; I recommend it.

We walked in 40 minutes before close on a Saturday just wanting to take out dinner.

From the beginning felt like we were an intrusion. No white rice, no sautéed veggies. We asked for sauce on the side, didn't happen for me but at least I got sauce, my husband didn't get any. I've been to Hawaii, I love a plate meal unfortunately the Mac salad wasn't my cup of tea. The Kahlua pork was ok but was way too greasy it seeped through the paper carton they sent us home with.
