She went to South Africa for a year immediately after graduation to teach at a local university and to work in a private optometry practice. Upon returning to California, she worked for ophthalmology practices and provided eye exams to the elderly in nursing homes. She was lucky to participate on missions for the Lyons club to provide much needed eye care to the people of Guyana.

Update: Dr. Salmasi called me an hour after I posted this review to rectify the situation. She was professional, courtesy and quick. She even made room in her full schedule to see me. She answered all my questions and calmed my anxieties and fears.
Dr. Salmasi will make an truly excellent optometrist one day (she's pretty close already) when she has her own practice.

My optometrist was thorough and professional. Doctors are people too, with opinions. My eye doctor has seen me for 11 years and wrote me as a -5.5 all this time, but for convenience reasons I came here (it's inside Los Feliz Costco). This doctor wrote me as -5.25. OH! Did my eyes get better? Did my restorative face cream fix my eyes? Let's try it. Dr. Yoshimura said it was best since I'm on my computer a lot. Tried it, and due to night time driving, realized I needed to call her back and get my -5.5 back.

Don't go here if you respect your time. I made an appointment a few days in advance. I filled out my intake ahead of time and reached the office inside of Costco on time. There is no waiting room and a lot of people outside. One receptionist was hiding behind a clipboard and other was working on another patient for a pre-test. I tried calling them to let them know that I was here for my appointment and they hung up right in front of me. I tried calling 2-3 times, they hung up again right in front of me (again 1 of the receptionist was doing NOTHING). After waiting for 15 mins, I went in and

Dr Smet is a very thorough, very thoughtful fabulous optometrist. Her exam is always more thorough than the exam I get at the ophthalmologist. The staff is friendly too.
Don't get discouraged by the fact her office is inside Costco. I have been seeing her for at least 12 years and have no desire to change.

I’ve been repeatedly pleased each time I have gone to Regine Smet before buying my glasses at Costco in Cypress. She and her staff have always been pleasant, quick and professional. I especially like that my eyes don’t need to be dilated to be tested. Her convenient location within Costco, and their affordable selection of glasses and contacts make her services even more pleasing.

I have gone to Dr. Smet many times over the years. I am greeted by a no-nonsense cordial staff. Dr. Smet is low key, professional, non-chatty, pleasant and answers any questions I might have. Dr. Smet completed my recent eye evaluation in no time at all and the end of the exam I said "is that it, am I all done?" and she said that I was. At that point I said to Dr. Smet: "you're the best," and she is!!!!

Dr. Smet is very straightforward, something I like she looks like she loves what she does perfect. I wish I could say the same for her staff. I understand this pandemic, I work at a Dr's office too so I treat everyone like I would like my parents treated. The girl doing my intake was frustrated, sigh after sigh .. without fair instructions. I felt so uncomfortable that a man was trying to adjust to the device without cleaning it for me or him. She rudely asked him "you cant see?!! I can ! It was not only frustrating but I felt like ai wanted to say something to her. , but a caucasian

Dr. Smet is fast And cordial. And that's about it. I couldn't get an appointment at my regular Costco, Marina del Rey with Dr. Nishida And I urgently needed to see a doc as I m expecting in a few weeks.
Well first they gave me an appointment And then when I called they had no record of it. But that wasn't an issue because they are very fast here and were able to accommodate me. Now that isn't a good thing.
Dr. Nishida is thorough and patient And listens to you. She gives you alternate prescriptions And works with you to find a solution that works.

Audra Yoshimura was really great! Super sweet and helpful. I'd been having a difficult time with my contacts for awhile and she was able to help me fix the problem. She also took into consideration my fake eyelashes and was careful not to accidentally pull on them which not many people would do. Very knowledgeable and takes the time to answer all of your questions.

Such a pleasure to visit this office, especially during a pandemic when sometimes great service gets lost in all the safety measures required! I even showed up the wrong day, which didn't elicit any negative response from staff. They just made it work so I could get right into the doctor, who was very personable and professional! Hats off to the frontline medical workers who can still go out of their way to be kind and helpful under very challenging circumstances!

I don't normally give a bad review but this particular Costco Optometrist branch doesn't know how to give a good customer service, my first experience was way a month ago so I was in Costco to make some groceries then I decided to walk in on this branch... I filed up the form and told me the waiting time will be an hour. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Brent Gibson this morning. My previously scheduled appointment was immediately honored by the front desk person. I was able to see Dr. Gibson quickly despite the waiting area being filled with customers without appointments who had arrived before me.
Before being seen by Dr. Gibson, Kimberly expertly handled all the preliminary eye testing. She helped me navigate through various tests seamlessly.
Dr. Gibson went the extra mile to educate me on the in's and out's of contacts and eyeglasses. He's patient and a great teacher. He's top-notch.
