After trying 5 other salons in Raleigh and being sorely disappointed with service and/or results, I was ready to just let my nails be the weak things they generally are. I moved to Raleigh a little more than a year ago and was beginning to think a great nail salon was like a unicorn.
Today I walked in to J&A Nail Spa at 5:00pm without making an appt. I was greeted immediately and asked to sanitize my hands and sign in. Everyone was properly masked. Covid precautions are taken seriously here, which I appreciated so much.

I have been going to this place for a while. I love the quality, and the different things they are able to do at this place. The prices are right on point for the quality of work they do. I would recommend this place to anyone that that wants a quality nail place in the area. I do advise you that you should make an appointment over phone so that you know you are going during the time you are available.

I was so disappointed in my experience. I have usually gone to pretty nails and by the same people across the street. Pretty nails was full and sent me to their sister property. I expected the same level of service. I had an incredibly slow technician. What should've taken 45 or 15 minutes took an hour and 20 minutes, after which I just got up and stopped. I didn't have anymore time to waste. I don't know whether he was just beginning or whether he was afraid to make a mistake, but several times I told him that his work was fine and we could move on and he just wouldn't stop

I have been here 3 times and it's been bad all 3 times. However, today completely takes the cake. I have tried it multiple times because I know my mom loves coming here. Today, I came in for a manicure. It was Saturday so I knew they would be busy but I didn't mind waiting. They completely rushed me through. I saw a woman getting a manicure soaking her nails and they were really taking their time. They never soaked my nails, barely touched my cuticles (which really needed attention). Walked in on a Saturday afternoon for a basic manicure with clear polish and removal of my previous nail polish. They seemed busy, however, I only had to wait about a minute. The nail technician working on my nails was great. He double checked what services and polish I wanted, was clear on what he was going to do, and clear on how long and where I should let them dry. He also was friendly, skilled, and efficient. I requested that he use only clear polish and it turned out great! Only critique would be to spend a little more time filing and buffing since my nails are still rough on the edges.

Unfortunately the staff 1/2 delivers on what is promise and paid for. After paying roughly $100, my nails we're not shaped and my toes were half painted. I left salon unhappy and decided to call to express that I was not happy with my experience. The receptionist reassured me to come back tomorrow and they will fix it. Day 2 of my scar experience was a waste of my time. They gave me the same Nail Tech who was more interested in watching me shape my own nails than trying to fix the issue. I was told that I messed up my own toes when I put my feet in my shoes even though my feet were drying

NOT worth $72 for a gel pedicure!!! I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. Heard good things. My friend and I both wanted pedicures. I opted for a $55 plus $17 extra for gel pedi. (Why gel on toes is $17 not $15 like nails when toe nails are smaller, not sure).
Other than a leg mask the pedicure was no more special than a basic pedicure. I had to nearly beg him to really get into my toes (stuck sock fuzz) and after an hour I had to Ask for water!!!

Just an update on this place! I'm finally getting around to updating my review after getting my mani and pedi here for my wedding in June. I could not have been happier with the service and attention to detail my nail tech gave me!!! My manicure and pedicure was absolutely perfect and looked amazing for our wedding day!!! Four of us were able to get in relatively last minute to do nails the day of the rehearsal. I am SO happy I got my mani and pedi done here for the wedding day!!! I've been going to this salon for about 2 months was was going to the other one they own across the street for about 6 months. They do a fantastic job every time. They are kind and professional and listen to you! They have a great selection of colors and services. I have give a shoutout to the guy who did my nails last night. He was hilarious and gave me the best gel manicure I've ever had! It looks literally perfect.

I can say that the place is spic and span clean.
Their grand opening sign is very misleading.
15% off Grand Opening seemed to not apply to my manicure.
Nor my friends services.
