The first time I saw Dr Stein, she asked what my current contact prescription was. Though I mentioned a ballpark number, I couldn't remember the exact figure off the top of my head, and she became increasingly exasperated. I explained that it was my first visit, and no one had informed me that I needed to bring in my previous prescription, something that I had to repeat to her a few times as she became tunnel-visioned with frustration. She then ran out of the room and exclaimed to one of her colleagues, loud enough for me to hear, "You won't BELIEVE the morning I'm having."

I have gotten an eye exam from this place a few years back. So I thought I'd go back this year. I was running 15min late. I called the office 20min ahead of my scheduled appt to let the doc know and ask if I should still be on my way or just turn around and head home. It was raining out, traffic. I don't know where to begin. This entire experience trumps all of those I've ever had with any eye doctor, be it in Chicago or the west coast, where I toggle between often. I was able to get an appointment for a comprehensive exam / fitting really quickly despite an ongoing pandemic. Outstanding. Made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in the door. Answered my multitude of questions as a new patient. The front office went above and beyond to look up insurance questions I had while I was in my exam. Dr. Stein is warm, down to earth, and very knowledgeable. STAY AWAY. I don't usually post reviews (good or bad), but I just had the worst experience I have ever had with any medical professional. It first started with having to come back for an additional appointment because they did not have my contacts in stock to try. I came back for a second appointment (which lasted about another hour) and when the doctor said I may have to come back again for another fitting, I expressed my unhappiness with the inconvenience. Dr. Stein is a true professional with a calm and friendly demeanor and I've always felt great walking into her beautifully designed, light and airy space in Ravenswood. I also feel great walking out in a smart set of glasses or in the state-of-the-art contacts that fit my astigmatic eyes like no others have. I came here after my Lincoln Square optician's office got so busy I felt like I was in line at the DMV. This place is amazing. I was cleaning my glasses yesterday afternoon when they just snapped right down the middle between the lenses, every glasses wearer's worst nightmare. I called Eye See frantically last night, and luckily, they came to the rescue. They had availability this morning and were so incredibly accommodating. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and explained options, my insurance coverage and costs in a clear and useful manner that enabled me to make decisions that are right for me. It was so nice to experience excellent customer service from a friendly and knowledgeable person.
I saw Dr. Hatcher. I assumed I was going to see Dr. Stein but am happy I ended up with Dr. Hatcher. He thoroughly explained everything and was very positive and pleasant.

I have the worst vision of anyone eye know (wa waaaa). I've been seeing eye doctors since I was old enough to walk into walls. How many people do you know who wear gas permeable contact lenses? None? Ok. Then there's me. Never worn anything else. Dr Stein and her staff are really great. They are super friendly and reasonable since RGP lenses cost a million dollars and you can get pretty ripped if you don't know how much they should really cost. These are not the kind of thing you can just order on the internet so you're going to pay whatever people charge you in an office. Anyway

Dr. Stein is great - helpful, relaxed and personable, and she explained every test to me. She even gave me a heads up that one particular test would cost $25 extra and isn't covered by insurance, something I found to be very considerate. I was planning on going here just to get my prescription updated and then order contacts from VisionDirect, but I decided to place my order with Eye See instead; it's wonderful to have a neighborhood place where they truly care about

I've been going to Eye See Ravenswood for three years now and have never had a bad experience.
The staff is friendly and incredibly patient. I've struggled for years with the inability to put in contact lenses and touch my eye. It sounds silly that it would be so hard for me to put in lenses for the first time, but it was a very frustrating process to learn how to become comfortable with putting my fingers near my eyes.
I'm pleased to announce that after my last appointment with Eye See Ravenswood I was able to insert the contacts by myself! The staff and doctor were super patient

I chose this establishment based on the great yelp reviews and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Dr. Stein was professional while still rather personable. She noticed on my chart that she lived on the end of my block and we chatted about the neighborhood while she set up for my exam. The assistant, I believe his name is Mark, was delightful and very helpful in selecting frames.
I have nothing but great things to say about my experience and would gladly recommend Eye See Ravenswood to my friends.

I am a grad student. As such, I read...and then read...and then read some more. Needless to say, since my eyes have been red and strained for the past 3 years, it was time to make an appointment. Now I've been there as a patient! Even more awesome. Dr. Stein is totally thorough (by far the most involved eye exam I've ever had.) Maggie and Greg the technicians are really knowledgeable when it comes to your insurance. The whole atmosphere of the office is really warm and laid back, but still has a clean, modern design.

Well, I ran out of contacts, so I needed to make my yearly eye appointment. Since I recently moved, I wanted to see if there was any place in the neighborhood because I am a sucker for convenience. Luckily, I got stuck on a one-way street, because I happened upon Eye See. And they had a website, which is great because I like to do a bit of investigating. I took a look at Yelp, too, and the six reviews I found here were all five-star, which helped me make my decision! Add in the fact that it's about a ten minute walk from my home, and I set up my appointment.
