Originally chartered in 1935, GNO was organized by employees of the New Orleans Bell Telephone Employees Federal Credit Union. Their goal, as was the goal of all company credit unions, was to provide a safe haven for their employees to save and then borrow from that pool of savings to achieve their dreams in life.
Minimum credit limit to open the HELOC is $10,000; maximum $100,000 ** Initial draw minimum is $5,000. Any closing costs waived at account opening must be paid by borrower if the HELOC is closed within two years. Federally Insured by the National Credit Union Administration. Approval, rate & terms are based on member's credit & ability to repay.

I have been a member since 1995. The staff is extremely friendly polite and helpful. My family have all accounts with GNOFCU (Auto Loans, Personal Loans, Credit cards, banking & savings accounts, etc - all helpful to our credit reports),

While claiming to help rebuild peoples credit they single handedly dropped my credit score 50 points for an $11 bank fee they never called to tell me existed. Thanks GNO.

Do not get a mortgage from this place. Completely incompetent. Escrow is total nightmare they pay the insurance bill late and have no insurance coverage more than once. Terrible

The GNO FCU lending department made our mortgage financing quick, painless, and easier than our first time around with a different lender. I’m receiving HORRIBLE customer service from GNO on Canal Street. A lady named Patricia was supposed to fax a copy of a check I deposited to my bank for 2 days, and it still hasn’t been done. When I called to get it done, for the 4th TIME Patricia said she was on her break. I am extremely disappointed!!!!

Fees Fees Fees and more FEES!...I was a member/customer for OVER 30 years and they STILL hit me with a $10 fee to close a couple accounts...Nothing like penalizing long time loyalty (they easily could have waived it)...Pretty lame if you ask me, but the whole reason I closed my accounts to begin with so not that shocking.

I had the absolute best experience refinancing my mortgage at GNO. The process was so easy and was completed fast. The lady who helped me was so nice and explained everything so it made sense and the closing fees were so much lower than the big banks I got quotes from. I will definitely be bringing more of my business to GNO.

I am very happy with this CU. They are very profesional. They helped me with all the process professionally with courtesy, diligence and he made sure that I understood the procedure. The loan officer Mr. Bradford helped me for days until it was all finalized. I cannot be thankful enough.

NO COVID-19 HELP. I have been with gno for 2 years, never missed a payment(they charge 15.00 to make a payment online) Now I have lost my job due to the virus, and their offer is they will charge me 40.00 to skip one month. No other help available during these hard times. Thanks GNO. Thought you guys were better than that.

I recently came back to this branch to get another loan to pay off a car. The loan officer I had initially worked with was no longer there so I met with Kim Stelly.

Since it had been some time since I had accessed my account it had been closed and a loan rate discount card I had received was from someone who no longer worked there. With approval though, Kim was able to honor the discount card and set me up with a new account.

After discussing my needs, she was able to expedite my loan request and it was approved in less than 24 hours! I really appreciate them having Saturday hours so I could

Unlike other credit unions I deal with, this one will charge you fees until you have nothing left. I purchased a vehicle a year ago in Alexandria, LA, which is where I live. Like most dealerships, they send the loan application to several finance companies. I have no doubt they get a kickback from these companies. I don't have a problem with this, until it costs me money. Last month I refinanced the vehicle for a lower interest rate through my credit union (should've checked with them to start). I've maintained a Savings Account at this institution for over a year now with no issues. The staff is always friendly and helpful at the Metairie Branch which is the closest to my home. Just recently I decided to open a Checking Account at this same Credit Union and gave all of the pertinent information to my employer's payroll department to make the transition for Direct Deposit services. I do know for a fact that my employer has the right information for DD, as I just received a deposit a few days ago for some travel related reimbursement expenses from my employer. Well it's now

I'm sorry to read the two negative experiences but this credit union has been an amazing help after my divorce. They helped get my credit back to "good" in two months approaching excellent.

Their fraud department was was very vigilant and contacted me on a suspicious charge.

Never bank here. When I obtained a home equity line of credit I was not advised that oine late payment would result in having a block put on all of my accounts. I had several false pieces of information place on my credit report which they eventually got removed once challenged but it was still a pain to have to go through that. I even went as far as filing a complaint with the credit union association and GNOFCU billed me their attorneys fees! Not to mention the unprofessional and underhanded tactics that george christianson uses for collections are illegal to say the least.

This is a truly awful institution to do business with. I chose to go with them for my new vehicle auto loan, as the rate was lower. BIG MISTAKE! The customer service is awful. There's no online bill pay, you must go inside to make a payment, which is a LONG process. Or you can choose to pay a $5 "Convenience fee" and wait 20 minutes on hold for a person to assist you over the phone. I have tried both, and they're equally painful. The process they have in place is also very questionable. After charging my card, and the transaction was approved, she had wrote my debit card number
