Community Yoga
Community Yoga of Davidson is committed to creating a beautiful, safe, nurturing environment where all people are honored and inspired to practice yoga on and off the mat. Our promise as a center is to celebrate, grow, love, and laugh together as a community. At this time the studio space is closed.

We are open virtually with Zoom classes and in-person classes per the schedule. Please check our schedule page for the most up-to-date class listing and Zoom meeting number for the class you are interested in. This is one of the most loving and spiritual places on the planet. No matter what level you are, you will feel a greater sense of personal accomplishment and joy.
Services
Our goal is to produce an environment where all are welcome and where they can come for the "stretch" and leave with much more. Classes are open to students of all levels. We are so proud to say, our values and commitment have not changed since 2004. Community Yoga is committed to SEVA, service to the community for the sake of service.
Community Yoga is committed to SEVA, service to the community for the sake of service. Each year, Community Yoga chooses a worthy charity and spends the year finding ways to donate time, goods/services and money. Join us as we head into our 13th year of giving back all the gifts we are blessed with every day!
Ashtanga Yoga is a practice with a predetermined sequence of asanas or postures. In this class the student learns to focus on the constant union between breath and movement. While this class is more vigorous, it can be tailored to meet a variety of students needs. Join Yvette for a wind down from your week and a great way to ease into your sleep.
Are you in need of some individual attention? Or would you like to give a gift certificate to a friend. Our teachers are available to offer private instruction in their areas of expertise at the studio. Our studio is prioritized for our teachers but if you are considering a workshop in connection with the studio give us a call.
Are you in need of nourishment? Silly question. This intro to Kundalini workshop might be the perfect way to start you down that path. I am an all time lover of Yoga: any kind, anywhere, anytime and look forward to sharing this powerful practice with you. This offering will be delivered in the hope of adding more love to the world.

I love going to Amy's classes. She has such a positive, caring spirit and she truly listens to any body hurts you may have. During class she will help you optimize our your positions. I always leave her classes feeling rejuvenated.

Great place to attend yoga class. This is located in Cornelius. It is very peaceful. And the owner/teacher Amy is a great teacher. When I am done with class, I feel calm and relaxed. The studio is a large 1 room with Yoga symbols and soothing colors on the wall. Also, what I like is that the classes appeal to many age groups, young, old, in the middle. I also like that the teachers make it known, it's not about being in the perfect pose. It's about how you feel in your practice. The classes are varied in style and level. If you want a calm, soothing yoga experience, this is the place to be. Unique

Amy Schneider is wonderful spirit and an amazing yoga instructor! She owns Community Yoga located in the LKN area between Cornelius and Davidson. I’ve called this little studio home for more than 15 years. I regularly practice Ashtanga inspired as well as other challenging flow classes. I’ve also enjoyed a variety of gentle yoga classes over the years. Making a habit of trying other studios during travel, I learned how lucky we are to have this authentic studio right here at home!

I found this Studio when we bought a 2nd place in Davidson. So glad I did.
And now during the pandemic, I have been able to exercise in the comfort of my own home in Rochester, NY via Zoom classes. What a godsend!
All are welcome to Zoom. Classes are $10 and a complete schedule can be found on the company website.

I started coming to Community Yoga as a high school student twelve years ago. Through the years, I have seen Amy and all of the CY instructors demonstrate a commitment to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment to practice yoga. Their breadth of yoga knowledge is accessible to experts and beginners alike. While there are a variety of classes, one of the common threads is an emphasis on listening to your body and moving to support your own body and mind. CY is always one of my first stops when I am in town and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

My favorite yoga teacher of all time, Amy Schneider, is the owner and main teacher at the studio. It’s a warm and welcoming environment, room for every body, and the price is right. You can borrow a mat free of charge and she has all yoga accoutrements in a dimly lit peaceful studio. There’s really no reason to go anywhere else in the Davidson area for REAL yoga.

This is one of the best yoga studios around, especially if you like your yoga small, community-oriented and non-gimicky. Simple classes, consistently-run with warm and compassionate teachers.
I recently left the area after 10 years and can't find anything like this in my new home. Amy brings warmth, compassion, community, humility and love to her practise and this shines through her classes and her teachers. As other studios come and go, she has stood the test of time and that's testament itself!

Amy is a great, great teacher and awesome woman and human being. I have been to many yoga studios, different cities in the States and believe she is the best. I always remember her saying: listen to your body
Besides the excellent classes Amy is a very good listener. Thanks Amy!....Best: Belem

This is probably my favorite yoga studio to go to in the country. If feels like home, always warm and welcome always peaceful space and the good yoga energy is held very well by our little local yoga guru Amy Schneider. She has many interesting classes throughout the year besides yoga such as harnessing the power of silence, different meditations styles, and an ongoing sacred women circle. Amys yoga teaching style is spot on allowing for and encouraging many different expressions of an asana based on your particular body, as long as you're in alignment that is not going to injure you. Community Yoga has been my studio for over 15 years and it's changed my life! Amy as well as the other instructors are always welcoming and helpful. I've brought a number of people with me to introduce to yoga and they always comment how inviting and invigorating the classes are. If you are looking to try yoga or are a long time yogie - Community Yoga is the place to practice.

My 7 year old grandson goes to the kid9s yoga class taught by Doris. I could not have dreamed into existence a better teacher for children than her. Doris is wonder with kids and very patient with ones who need special guidance. My grandson has built core strength and has noticeably more coordination since joining this class.
We live in Denver and drive to Cornelius because we love this studio.

One day my middle school daughter said she wanted to join me for yoga. She has never been too athletic and has never felt comfortable with P.E. in school. She loved her first class at Community Yoga and decided to keep going. She has continued to love it. She has also said that practicing yoga has made her physically stronger, built her resolve to try harder with athletic challenges, and given her more confidence in P.E. She has more stamina than ever before. Thank you so much, CY, for the wonderful teachers who embrace all yoga students with openness, encouragement and vigor.

I received a free class pass and decided to take a Sunday Hatha class with two of my girl friends. This studio is tucked away on the border of Cornelius and Davidson. According to their website they offer an array of of yoga classes. The Hatha class was what I needed since I'm used to more of a flow and vigorous. I would've liked a few hands-on adjustments to get me deeper in some of the poses. The instructor was friendly and inviting. The space is nice and open, providing all the yoga props you could imagine; all types of blocks, straps, bolsters, etc. I am definitely looking forward

Just had my first yoga class.....ever! I was worried that I'd be uncomfortable because I didn't know anything, but I couldn't have been made to feel anymore comfortable. The teacher was so welcoming and helpful. She made her way around the whole class continually helping make sure my hands, feet and head were positioned correctly and that I was getting the most out of each position. The studio is clean and inviting and has everything you would need for the class. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend this place to everyone I know. I will definitely be returning.

Amy S has created and sustained this great studio in the Lake Norman community longer than anyone else. How? Because she puts her heart and soul into the space and you can feel it. Amy has been one of the most inspiring teachers in our community for years. If you have hesitated to come to CY I promise you that you will feel welcomed. I travel for work and often drop in on studios so I always value the great yoga vibe and wonderful spirit when I can find it. And you can find it at CY.!

I have practiced yoga with Amy Schneider for almost 3 years. She was the one that introduced me to yoga back when I was very skeptical of yoga as a means to get a "workout." Although I have tried other styles and approaches to the practice over the years, I personally find Amy's style and approach to be the one that I enjoy best and personally get the most from (mind, body, flexibility, tranquility, muscle tone and flexibility). I also love Amy's kind and spiritual manner. And I feel, after experiencing others, the most safe under her guidance. I think there are other practitioners

The must see yoga place to go in Lake Norman area. I managed to go to the Express Yoga at 11 AM with Amy for $5. At the website they offer a free pass but I wanted to cash on the free pass on another day. Amy is probably one of the most unique yoga instructors I have ever met. She made yoga cerebral, soulful, and beautiful. She focused on the HOW you do each pose. I like that she encouraged you to play and to LISTEN to your body during yoga. She was adept in giving simple and easy to follow directions and examples of variations and modifications. Her mini massages, nurturing touch, and adjustments
