Services
Generous portion of mushroom caps stuffed with Italian sausage and smothered with Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, then baked. Served with our own Marinara sauce. Tender corned beef, Swiss cheese and kraut rolled in egg rolls and served with Thousand Island on the side. Natural breast tenderloin of duck, breaded in an Almond flour and deep fried to perfection.

We always enjoy the fish fry. Food is great!! Service is good...even in these times of being short staffed. However...I fell in the parking lot. We were parked right by the door. There was alot of snow by the curb. It happened when we were leaving. I ended up at urgent care and 8 stitches on my elbow. Please be aware of the snow.

I absolutely love MJ Stevens so that's why I can't give a bad rating but I must say if you want to-go orders picked up, don't ignore your customers waiting at the bar to pick them up.
I placed a pick up for 445 and arrived at 455 thinking the extra 10 minutes would assure my order was ready on a busy Friday night.
The hostess sent me to the bar and I told the older lady working that I was there for a pick up. She told me she would be with me in just a minute.
It was NYE so I understood it was busy but then she proceeded to help multiple other customers, who came in after me, while ignoring me

Yesterday my husband called to order 2 ribeye dinners. He had to talk to 3 different people before he could order. Finally they got the order .. as he went in he paid , and left he didn't think to double check the food. As it turns out he received 2 philly cheese steak sandwiches, with cheese whiz.....2 baked potatoes and 2 salads. CLEARLY NOT WHAT HE ORDERED!! And who eats baked potatoes and salads with 2 nasty sandwiches ?? The sandwiches were not edible...

If your fish fry is focused on the fish, definitely come here! The pieces are very large and meaty and the breading is very flavorful. The service was excellent considering how busy the place is. My only issue were the waffle fries. The fries were clumped together and undercooked making it more like mushy potatoes rather than crisp fries. The coleslaw was crunchy and cold which was delicious. We went for buffet. Fresh fruit was the only thing either of us could eat. We tried a little of everything and wasn't good. No buddy puts sage in biscuit and gravy, and prime rib hash. Thats all you can taste. Tried the chicken was way over cooked. Fish was dry. I don't ever like to leave a bad reviews.

A couple of weeks ago we had one of the most memorable fish fries ever here. Not because of the food (although it was very good), but because it was the first fully mask-free restaurant experience we'd had in over a year. Not a mask to be seen in the place... which, a month earlier, would have seen us turn around at the door and leave, but this was just after the mask mandate had been lifted and it felt great to be experiencing something that felt so much like normal!

On our way home from Milwaukee we stopped here for fish. It was excellent !
Fish & Crisscut fries done perfect !
The only thing I didn’t care for was that we got 2 pieces of Cheesecake to take home.
It definitely was not worth $15 for the 2 !
It didn’t taste bad, but it was not exceptional tasting to cost that much. Would not do that again.

Super-spreader restaurant. No masks. No social distancing. Maskless bartenders, servers, and hosts breathing right in your face and on your food. Anti-science criminal enterprise with no regard for health and safety. They think they are above the law.
Owner claims the health mandates are guidelines and not the law. That makes him a liar, or an insurrectionist. He brags about his selfish customers who love the fact this place does not believe in health standards.

We've driven by here many times and even tried going one other time and it was too packed to wait. A packed place right off the expressway is usually a good sign. It did not disappoint. The service was very good and friendly. Food was fabulous. They had a creamy duck soup on the night we went. That is rare to find on a menu, so when it's offered we have to order it. It was hearty and flavorful and you could definitely taste the duck. We then ordered Prime Rib and the Dry Rub Ribs with a side of their homemade BBQ sauce. All really tasty and done perfectly. This place is right near my home so I wish I could write a better review. My wife and I stopped in for dinner here two times in the spring of 2020 and in both cases the food was so salty it was ruined. The first time I had pulled pork and thought perhaps the over-salting was a one time event. A week later I had a cheeseburger and the overwhelming amount of Lawry's Seasoning salt was unbearable and totally uneatable. I told the server and she said thank you and she would talk to the cook. Ok well that does me no good. Anyway I called the next day and talked to the manager about the situation

Specific to the COVID 19 take out, I was pretty disappointed. I'm not a germaphobe but the amount of people in the restaurant Friday 3/27 was disappointing. I work in healthcare and am fairly careful about exposure during this time and I counted 21 people in the bar area and about another 15-18 people waiting down the hall and in the foyer. Met my parents-in-law out for dinner at one of their favorite places which truthfully had me feeling a little cringy given past faves of theirs. But, MJ Stevens really surprised ... in a good way!
The menus is pretty simple, but really something for every taste including daily specials. I opted for the grilled salmon (sans the sauce that it was supposed to be drizzled with in favor of some extra lemon wedges) which I got with fries (choice of potato) and a salad (choice of soup or salad). It was nice! Tasted fresh and good w/ the lemon. With the fries and salad as well as the bread/crackers

Was there last Friday for the fish fry. Slight wait but did get a seat at the bar. Drinks were fairly priced too. After only 20 -25 minutes got our table. The wait staff was fast and friendly. The fish was excellent, got the 2 piece and had to take one piece home. My wife got the one piece and she even gave me a small piece.
Even though they were crowded we didn't feel rushed. Will be back.

Underwhelmed. Service was great, but the food didn't wow me for the cost. I had the Oscar chicken and my boyfriend ordered the New York Strip. The chicken was fairly good, but when they topped it with a hefty scoop of dried out canned crab??? Nope, I was turned off and very disappointed for the $19 price.
Aside from me not liking my meal, I should point out that the service was excellent. We were there for my friend's birthday and our server generously brought him a small cake that was big enough for the four of us to share. So kind, but still 3 stars for the food...5 for our wonderful

Consulting in Hartford was disappointing from a food perspective until I dined at MJ Stevens. Considering I have dined here three times I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Calibrate your expectations to get a good quality meal that isn't fancy but just solid cooking. Wednesday night they have a fish fry of either baked or lightly breaded cod. I have tried both and they were delicious.
The two piece breaded cod is plentiful for one person. It comes with waffle fries that are piping hot along with coleslaw and the traditional rye bread. The fish needed a little more salt but

An older style supper club with very confusing décor. We ended up waiting a little to sit in the bar area, which was expected and worth it compared to the other dining area. While waiting, we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bar was rather small and there wasn't much room to stand without bothering other customers.

Fish Fry Friday! There is no where else you are going to want to go in Wisconsin for Fish Fry! Every time I am in area, I make sure to go to MJ Stevens for Fish Fry. Family owned business. My extended family has been going here for years. Lots of main dining seating, basement seating - you can book parties down there. Also there is a really nice outdoor area in the warmer months. OK Fish fry, you can get 2, 4, 6 piece dinners that comes with super delish cole slaw, waffle fries and a piece of buttered marbled bread.
