Founded in 1996 by a small group of contractors, the Association has grown to include over 30 members that are committed to raising industry standards. Working closely with legislators, industry experts and labor-management, the ECA establishes best practices, standard procedures and safety initiatives which our members have committed to follow with ensured compliance monitored by ECA certified supervisors.

The Environmental Contractors Association of New York City (ECA) advances the needs of professional environmental contractors by adhering to high professional, safety and integrity standards. Founded in 1996 by a small group of contractors, the Association has grown to include over 50 members that are committed to raising industry standards.
Membership in the ECA provides contractors with a strong professional network of like-minded environmental contractors. ECA members participate in the larger unionized construction industry and have strong relationships with numerous City, State and Federal public agencies.
The ECA's Associate Membership Program encourages our partners to join the ECA as Associate Members, providing them opportunities to engage with our members on key industry issues.Expanding our membership will also allow us to continue the research and promotion of our ongoing projects. The Environmental Contractors Association's Charitable Fund for Disaster Relief and Recovery is a foundation established by environmental remediation experts to marshal the resources of local firms and mitigate the environmental impact of natural disasters and emergencies.

In memory of Frank J. Garito, dear friend and founding member of ECA, we have established a scholarship fund to benefit a child of an ECA member. Frank was recognized throughout the New York City construction community as an industry pioneer and dedicated leader.
He was CEO and President of Asbestos Corporation of America and was also active in many construction industry trade and charitable organizations, receiving more than 40 awards for his contributions and activity in many charitable, benevolent, fraternal, civic and youth organizations over the years.
