Onsight's certified inspector, Peter Palmer, is very familiar with all the construction techniques and components typically found in a home. Peter worked 15 years as an ASE certified master mechanic and over 25 years as an award-winning custom home builder and residential contractor before focusing on home inspections.
Buying a home is not something most people do every day. Our home inspection is a visual process where hundreds of items typically found in a home are inspected and/or operated to verify proper function and installation. Many details in a home can be overlooked in the excitement (and sometimes stress) of finding a new home.
MOLD is not a BAD word, but mold spores can become a problem when they cause health issues or damage to homes. Molds are a natural part of our world and can be found everywhere. This is when a mold inspection (looking for mold and conditions conducive to mold growth) and air and surface sampling become necessary.
Our West Virginia Eastern Panhandle area has karst geology (cracked limestone) which allows radon gas to travel easily towards the surface, sometimes finding its way into basements and homes with crawlspaces through cracks and holes in the foundation and floor. Radon is an inert carcinogenic gas that, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is hazardous to inhale.

As a first time home buyer, this company came highly recommended for finding all the issues. Unfortunately, they didn't run the Ac because it was cold out at the time...not generally and issue but if Peter had even bothered to open the unit and look it...it would have been evident that it was not operational. Poor home inspection...just cost me $6000. Trust me...you can find someone better.

Met Peter and Mary and they were amazing ! We are always early and they beat us to the location . Peter went through the entire house and garage - crawlspace to attic and was incredibly thorough. I learned so much, and he had amazing recommendations for improvements.

Just recently used them for my home inspection and they were GREAT! Peter takes you around the entire home showing you all the ins and outs of what he is looking at and what different things are. He tests everything from light switches to outlets to appliances and pumps. He answered every single question I had and even a few I didn't know I even had. The report was complete and done MUCH faster than I had thought it would be. Price was great especially for the quality and experience they provide. Peter and Mary were awesome. I needed a last minute inspection for the home I was interested in buying and they made it work. Afterward, they even squeezed me in to reinspect the home after repairs were made. Always very cordial and made me feel like family. I never felt rushed and they are extremely fair priced as well.
