Dr. Wood is an Anderson native. She graduated in 1995 from Anderson High School and 1999 from Miami University with a BA in Zoology. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her DVM in 2004. She practiced at an emergency facility for 6 years as well as a part-time veterinarian at various clinics around the area while raising her toddlers.
Our first experience with Main Street Animal Hospital and Dr. Wood was when we had to bring our 14 year old cat to be put to sleep. We don't like to think about losing our pets, but I wanted to commend Dr. Wood and her staff for the caring and compassionate treatment that they gave our cat and family during this difficult time.
At Main Street Animal Hospital, you can expect state of the art medical care for your four-legged companions. We believe in nurturing the human-animal bond and creating a harmonious relationship between people and animals. You can expect to be greeted by a courteous receptionist, clean exam rooms, friendly doctors, and caring technicians.
Proper dental hygiene is critical to your pet's overall health. At Main Street Animal Hospital, we offer a full range of pet dental services designed to prevent disease and help ensure your companion lives a long, healthy life. The easiest way to make sure your dog or cat is healthy is by scheduling regular dental screenings with our Amelia veterinarian, Dr. Melanie Wood.
Microchipping may save your pet's life. When cats and dogs wander far from home or are stolen, you cannot rely on collars with identity tags as the only hope for reunification. Collars and tags can be taken off or easily lost. If your pet has a registered microchip, the two of you have a much greater chance of being reunited.

Relationships are important in pet care. We need to be able to trust and depend that you will be there when we need you. Last Friday, we were in dire need of your services for an existing case, but you were unavailable until Monday. We explained our emergency to your staff, they could/would not offer a referral, substitute vet or any alternative. Just a 'sorry we can't help' and hung up. With one phone call, All Creatures down the street from you responded to our emergency with an immediate appointment. Superb service and bedside manner. -- Look, I get that your busy, have lots of other patients

The details of the visits would bore you, so I will just say that on our two recent visits the doctor and staff seemed all to be in a hurry. Not enough time was taken to listen to the client, look at previous paperwork, and FULLY update us on what comes next. We had two or three issues come up that have left a negative impression. And the push to get us in and out means we won’t return. The hunt for a good lifetime veterinarian for our animals continues!
