I really try not to write negative reviews. Being a small business is extremely difficult. Add the fact that covid exists and any business that's even open at this point should be applauded. That said, I didn't love my experiences at Eyes on Second. I've been here a couple times since 2016. The pro was that they took my insurance while many providers did not, but the con was the aggressive sales people.
The first time I went for an eye exam in 2016 (awhile ago, I know) I purchased a pair of glasses and contacts. I really didn't want a 6 month supply of contact lenses

I was trying to be a good adult and get an eye check. The last time I had my eyes checked was when I was little. I had no issues but just wanted a test to confirm.
Following the test I was swindled into buying frames that were way too expensive and computer lenses that are unnecessary. My friendly eye exam ended up costing close to $800. After reviewing the receipt I realized I spent too much money but the refund is for store credit only. Buyer beware before visiting this store!

The best eye doctor I have ever been to. Dr Cawog is thorough and kind. She has caught mistakes other doctors have made, some of them being very serious things that are so disappointing to know other doctors have missed. I’ve been going here for two years now and I always leave my appointment feeling taken care of and happy with my check ups. Best eye doctor ever!!!!

The optometrist was on time, super nice, and clearly explained what was going to happen with the procedure. Unfortunately, there was a machine malfunction to do my retina exam. I had opted for that over dilation. So I need to go back when my contacts arrive--no big deal. The office staff was very nice and courteous as well. Prior to the appointment they were also clear with what I would need to pay for that my insurance wouldn't, so there weren't any surprises. Looking forward to returning and trying out contacts.

I been coming here for years and honestly the customer service is amazing. From the people at the front desk, to the doctors…no complaints! It’s a small business and a small location, but the people are so friendly and sweet. Dr. Amin is my doctor there and she’s the best! Eyes on Second and Dr. Cawog is the only eye doctor I will ever go to moving forward, I'm locked in. Dr. Cawog takes her time and really makes the patient feel comfortable and knowledgable about what needs to happen to ensure near perfect vision. The doctor who took care of me was amazing. As for picking up my glasses and trying them on, they slide right off my face. I waited over a week to have them message me that they were ready. Obviously not since they're too big. I'm annoyed because for 250 bucks I get garbage glasses that don't fit. The lady who greets you has a bit of an attitude too and didn't seem to give a crap. Yeah I'll stay in Brooklyn, this place isn't the one

Extremely rude staff. I called to reschedule an appointment and the woman on the phone sighed extremely loudly before offering alternative times. And even when helping, she did so with a serious attitude. I ended up cancelling my appointment completely because I was so taken back with her unprofessionalism.

I was meaning to write this review for quite sometime. The first time I was seen the Dr. gave me the wrong prescription and I was unable to see anything despite wearing glasses for years. Their recommendation wait a few days your eyes will adjust. I guess this was suppose to happen magically guess what it never did. Go back and get another eye exam not to my surprise the prescription was wrong. Get a new prescription, new glasses still cant see. I go back they double check then the 2nd optometrist says oh the frames might be too big. Really because they are the same exact size of the previous frame

Worst part of glasses I've ever owned. I went here because they took my insurance. Decided to spend extra and invest in a good pair of lightweight wire framed glasses. When I went to pick them up the salesperson I worked with was not in. They handed me glasses and case and walked away. No trying them on, no adjustment until I insisted. I knew they were too thick but no one wanted to have a conversation with me because they hadn't made the sale. Got my glasses home and found I couldn't wear them for more than 20 minutes at a time. Do yourself a favor and book an exam at Eyes On Second. Dr. Lina Cawog is truly exceptional and helped me update my contacts and glasses prescriptions. She understood what my vision's difficulties were and was able to immediately think of effective alternatives to what I was previously used to. The changes made have already made a difference in how sharp my vision is on a day-to-day basis. I came here for my annual checkup, and from the emails I first got from them, I had an uneasy feeling especially because it felt like They were up selling (I know.. via email sounds weird), anyway I got here for my appointment and from the get-go, my intuition was right, the receptionist, the Dr and the staff who showed me the glasses, all tried to bring up some sort of dollar amount I would have to shell out to either get, contact lens prescription sent to my email or $35 for something else (I forget what it was) But I exhausted leaving this eye clinic. I've been going to Eyes on Second for two years now and am writing a review now because of the recent superior customer service and care I experienced from them. I originally chose Eyes on Second because of its proximity to my home, good reviews on Yelp, and it accepted my health insurance. I don't remember which doctor I had as I've had two different ones, but both were great.

In about 2009, I was sitting in my favorite bar and was wondering about a new eye doctor. I spied Eyes on Second (its first location) and thought, why not get my eyes dilated then have the ability to rest my poor pupils while cave drinking? That is when my roommates and I met Dr. Shiyan. We would line up our yearly appointments for a nice Saturday or Sunday afternoon and run across the street when the time came for our exams. What a wonderful place. I had been having trouble with my prescription for awhile now and i finally have a resolution!!!!! Not only does someone personally greet you but the whole team is helpful from start to finish. Now i have my glasses with the right prescription and my headaches have subsided.

The staff at Eyes on Second were great. I was immediately greeted and my doctor was really nice and explained everything thoroughly during my visit.
They were kind enough to answer all my questions every time I called or came into their office. The support staff took care of booking my appointments and I was able to get everything I needed.
