Cape Veterinary Clinic has been in South Portland serving the local community since 1958. It was originated by Dr. Ladd Hildebrand, and then purchased in 1972 by Drs. Eric and Carol Robison, who laid the foundation for our community-oriented practice. Dr. Davis began working with the Robisons in 2003, so when they were looking to retire, they didn't have to look far for someone they trusted to purchase the clinic.
In 2007 Dr. Davis and Dr. Flahive became the new owners of the Cape Vet Clinic.

Services
Cape Veterinary Clinic has been serving the local community for over 60 years! During that time we have developed strong relationships with our long-time, loyal clientele. We love welcoming new faces to our practice and look forward to the opportunity to show how Cape Vet Clinic offers the best in veterinary medicine delivered with compassion and a neighborhood feel.
Cape Veterinary Clinic is now at 51 Ocean Street in South Portland's Knightville neighborhood. We love our new home and we're so excited about all of the improvements that our new location has brought! Our spacious facility provides you and your pets with a more tranquil visit. You'll find plenty of easy parking, less traffic and less stress!
Preventive, routine dental cleaning is important in maintaining your pet's well-being. Having a cleaning at the first sign of tartar buildup will not only make your pet's kisses more enjoyable, it will also prevent decay and the need for extractions. Poor dental health can be a source of pain and may also be directly related to cardiac and kidney disease.
Our pharmacy offers a wide range of prescription drugs, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and dewormers- all of which are competitively priced. We also carry a variety of prescription diets and treats, supplements, and oral care products for both dogs and cats. Our doctors and staff are the best resourse for choosing the right heartworm and flea and tick products for your pet!
At Cape Vet Clinic, we understand how stressful it can be when your pet becomes sick or injured- that's why we provide a compassionate array of high-quality diagnostics and medical treatments. Our doctors often work together to offer multi-vet consultations to better serve our patients.

This clinic is wonderful. From the beginning, they helped revitalize an area of South Portland that needed new businesses. They bought local. They support local vendors. As they’ve grown they’ve kept the right values and attitudes. I’ve always been greeted with a smiling face and eager to assist employees. Even as they’ve gotten larger they continue to keep a clean, safe, inviting and professional environment. This past year or two the demand for animals and their services have increased while supply of workers have decreased (or hard to find) and this clinic has done a great job navigating

Today was my first time at Cape Vet Clinic. I was nervous because even though it was just a cat checkup it had been awhile since our cat had been to the vet and I was nervous for her and for the whole experience. Dr. Risteen and her staff were absolutely DELIGHTFUL and incredible. She was so kind to me, and to my cat. She loved her up, was so knowledgeable and warm and made me feel at ease with all of my questions. I can’t say enough good things about the experience! So excited that we found a place that feels so wonderful!

They used to be the best. When we moved to Maine they took such great care of our Basset Hound until we said goodbye. They continued to provide good service throughout COVID. Now that restrictions are easing though they are getting worse. We are an established client and can't get our sick dog in to be seen for a month. I ask each time when they will be staffing up and I always get the vague "we are working on it" answer. I'd suggest you look elsewhere, we will be. It's too bad because Dr. Greenbaum is wonderful.
