Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment that is stimulating, fun, hands-on, and encouraging. The early years of a child's life are the most critical when it comes to their development. They are growing and learning at an extraordinary rate. We believe that a child who is nurtured from a young age to enjoy learning will be prepared for kindergarten and continue to pursue education throughout their lives.
We strive to inspire a life-long love of learning and to create a trusting environment where children feel safe to explore, make mistakes, question, and create.

Salem Lutheran Children's Center is licensed and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. Each month, the classes explore a different theme to gain understandings across these curriculum areas. Research shows that the practice of integrating curriculum areas around a theme helps learning become more relevant for children, enabling them to construct meaning and retain knowledge.

Salem is fantastic and will go above and beyond for your child. I had my daughter at another daycare that my employer subsidized. She starting having behavior issues due to poor teachers and a class full of "Future Leaders" and poor communication. I should have put her in Salem as soon as she started having issues, but my husband and I had reservations about the religious aspects of Salem's curriculum. We did my daughter a disservice waiting to move her. Salem got her back on track and ready to thrive in Kindergarten. Cherie and Brenda were fantastic to work with and all the teachers were communitive

I went to Salem when I was a kid and I am now 28. After my daughter was old enough to start attending there it felt like a no brainer. Salem has always and continues to be a great child care center. My daughter enjoys going there everyday and LOVES all of her teachers. Another great benefit to Salem is the price. I do not have a single complaint about this center and would recommended it to anyone and everyone who is looking for a smaller, more family like feel for their child vs. a center where they are just another number.

Once again, kudos to Salem Lutheran Children Center! Returning to fall preschool classes amid all the covid chaos was a bit intimidating. But not as soon as I set foot in the building and was welcomed back with "socially distanced" open arms! I really appreciate the way the office personnel (Cherie and Brenda) made me feel as comfortably normal as possible and I'm awestruck at how they manhandle ( or should I say womanhandle?) anything the state throws at them in the way of new requirements to run a small, private childcare business. It is no small task instituting a slew of new safety restrictions

I happened to come across the negative review below and felt the need to chime in. Our experience at Salem Lutheran Children’s Center has been very positive over the past six years, with all three of our children going through the preschool program. And our experience with transitioning back into school in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the opposite of what was described in the review below. I believe the school’s leaders have been diligent in communicating with us, making our options clear, and giving us choices about how and when to bring our kids back based on our level of comfort

My daughter attended this school for about a year. Then Covid hit. We paid for her to start the 3 year program this month and the director gave out Spot away. When I questioned it there was no answer and communication was horrible.
I have been told by the teachers there that they fear for their jobs if they speak up which creates a hostile environment. It’s a shame this great school but the director does NOT know how to handle the school, budget, or deal with her staff in a professional way. I’ve spoken to the Pastor from the church who was very nice but has told me no one has ever complained
