We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important 60-minute visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we may also reserve time following the exam for diagnostic records.
No, it is not. Many of our patients are referred by their family dentist, yet many other patients take the initiative to schedule an examination themselves. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic screening at age 7. By this age, several permanent teeth in most children have erupted, allowing us to effectively evaluate your orthodontic condition.
A Proxabrush is an interdental (between the teeth) toothbrush that you may use to clean underneath and around your wires and braces. Use the Proxabrush gently to avoid damaging your wires. The Proxabrush will help you to clean your braces while maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Peroxyl, a hydrogen peroxide antiseptic mouth rinse, will reduce inflammation to your gums and cheeks.
The appearance and function of your teeth are impacted by this type of bite. It is characterized by the upper teeth extending too far forward or the lower teeth not extending far enough forward. The upper front teeth extend out over the lower front teeth, sometimes causing the lower front teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth.
We brought our grandson in for a second opinion, free consult, but were treated like valued patients. Everyone in the office was very cordial and helpful in helping us understand the options available for us. We were most impressed by the fact that honesty prevailed. We were not being persuaded to do treatment that was not necessary.

I just left an in-office course at Pitts Orthodontics! The office was packed with orthodontists attending from around the world that desire to improve their orthodontic knowledge and skill. Dr. Pitts and Dr. Handelin and the Pitts Orthodontic team collaborate to provide truly world class orthodontic treatment that the rest of the world would like to emulate. Any orthodontist or even a general dentist can put braces on. However, it takes an elite orthodontic specialist to diagnose and treat and finish cases with beautiful, healthy smiles. I myself would get treatment from Pitts Orthodontics!!

I've known Drs. Arnie Pitts and Mark Handelin for 20 years, and they are absolutely spectacular doctors. Not only do the use the latest technology, they are members of an international study club of elite orthodontists who are constantly pushing the envelop and staying on the leading edge. They are, without a doubt, the best and most progressive orthodontists in the Reno area, and I often rely on their expertise and seek their counsel when I have a difficult case to discuss.

Pitts Orthodontics deserves more than a five star rating. I have been a daily headache sufferer for the past 17 years. I would wake up in morning with a headache, almost every single day. I would go to bed at least four nights a week with a headache. I have had a sleep study done, I've seen a neurologist, a chiropractor, I have invested in every fancy pillow on the market and still no relief. I often thought it was job related, because ironically I have been a dental assistant for 17 years. I just figured it was from looking down every day, eight hours a day while in patient care!
