Richard A. Whipple has been practicing dentistry as a general dentist in the Portland Metro area since 1982. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Dr. Whipple completed a General Practice Residency at Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia. He has dedicated his professional career to providing the best that dentistry has to offer and enhancing the lives of his patients by giving them award-winning smiles.

I was referred to Dr. Whipple about a year ago for veneers, and I couldn't be happier with the result! They are perfect and just what I wanted. The staff is very friendly, and they really care about their patients. I highly recommend it! Have been going here for years, started upon recommendation from close friend.
Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and we ask the same courtesy from your family. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately, giving a minimum of 48 hours notice to avoid any missed appointment fees. We realize that unexpected illnesses and emergencies may occur, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.

I switched to Dr. Whipple and his wonderful team after almost 27 years with my former dental office and haven't looked back since. The level of care I receive at each appointment is nothing short of impressive. One thing that really stands out is Dr. Whipple's passion for what he does. You can tell that he loves coming to work each and every day. It also seems as if he's always willing to invest in the latest and greatest technology to provide the ultimate level of patient care. Dr Whipple and his staff are the best. He's conscientious, kind, patient and respectful and most important of all, he's a professional with a big heart! He looked at my individual situation and evaluated the best plan of care then methodically and patiently worked me through it. Every concern was for my comfort and desired results. No rushing, evaluated at every step and made sure the outcome was exactly what was best for me. Wish I'd found his practice years ago.

Dr. Whipple truly is the best in his profession; he always listens, cares about me and my family, and I enjoy catching up with him every time I go in. You cannot go wrong with this knowledgeable dentist. The work I need is complicated; Dr. Whipple is resourceful, a great problem-solver, and effective! He includes the patient in discussing potential treatment plans and their consequences, which I greatly appreciate. Staff is friendly and welcoming as well!
I've been to other dentists and prosthodontists who have scared me and didn't provide proper treatment. At one point, I got up from the chair and ran out of the office--traumatized to say the least! Thank goodness I've found Dr. Whipple!!

Great experience! Made me comfortable, given the history I’ve got with previous dentists. Dr. Whipple was very informative about everything he does, and I personally appreciate communication in that regard. If you’ve got bad experiences with dentists, or fears. Dr. Whipple is one I highly recommend, specially for His attention to detail. Above and beyond my expectations! And his staff from the moment you walk through the door to finishing up are so kind!

I can't say enough about this office and Dr. Whipple. I saw Dr. Whipple because my Dentist was on vacation. I was getting ready to go on vacation (in 2 days) and I had a tooth that wasn't feeling right. My dentist office called Dr. Whipple's office and got me right in. It turns out I had an abscess on the tooth . He knew I was leaving out of the country and made a spot in his busy schedule to do a root canal on me. I was beyond thankful to him. It's not everyday that you find a Dr. that is so caring and thoughtful . Oh and the root canal was amazingly painless. Thank you again Dr. Whipple for making

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Whipple for 15 years. Everything from dental cleaning, sealants for the kids, to implant surgery have been done by him with quality and confidence. Always a pleasure speaking him as well, when he doesn't have an instrument in your mouth!

I was a patient of Dr. Whipple for well over 18 years. I thought he was the best. He and his staff were very patient with me as I have a strong gag reflex. But everything seemed to change about 4 years ago or so. I think he is about ready to retire or something because he takes so many days and weeks off. You call and they are closed all the time, it seems like.
Then I had to have implants put it. He and the oral surgeon worked together but it turns out Dr. Whipple did not do some of the stuff the oral surgeon requested when creating my denture and putting in the locators. Then I had some cavities

Do not go here! They lied to me about charges. Instead of free regular cleanings, I was charged $250 since they weren't fully covered by my insurance (although they told me they were). They didn't send me a single invoice until 2 years after my first visit, and by then I had racked up over $1,000 in debt, then they started adding interest to my account. This company lacks integrity.

I moved to Tigard from St. Louis in 1990. I went to Dr. Whipple because he was within walking distance of my apartment complex. Almost 30 years later and living in Vancouver, WA. I am still going to Dr. Whipple. As you might imagine the reason for this is simply that he is a great dentist. I believe he cares about me as a person especially when I am sitting in the dentist chair having work done on me. He keeps up with the technology, science, and techniques of dentistry. I recommend Dr. Whipple as your dentist without any hesitation.

I have been a patient of Dr. Whipple's for over thirty years. Dental visits were always traumatic to me in my early years prior to going to Dr. Whipple. He does everything possible to ensure each visit is a positive one no matter the procedure. I would recommend him to anyone! I would also like to commend Crissy, the hygienist working in his office. I have very sensitive gums, and teeth cleaning can be uncomfortable. Crissy does a thorough job with a gentle, deft touch. Another great reason to visit Dr. Whipple's office!

Not JUST a great dentist but a great person. He's honest, won't do unnecessary procedures to make a buck but will tell you when something is actually wrong and thoroughly explain why.

I have been going to Dr. Whipple's office for a few years now and there is no place else I would rather go. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job at making me feel comfortable while I was in their office. Dr. Whipple stays up to date with the newest technology and education in his field. I feel extremely confident in his ability to do the best job for me and my teeth. His hygienist is thorough and really takes her time to educate her patients on what she is doing and why it is important.
