Northcut Orthodontics
Our patients tell us they chose our practice because of our outstanding team, our commitment to helping patients achieve healthy, beautiful smiles and the way they feel in our office during the process. Located adjacent to University Village, Northcut Orthodontics serves patients in the Montlake, Laurelhurst, Ravenna, Wedgewood and University District neighborhoods.

Some patients travel from as far as Everett, Bainbridge Island and Bellevue to be a part of our practice. Whether you are in need of braces, Invisalign or just a new retainer, we look forward to serving you at Northcut Orthodontics.
Services
We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination, photographs and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important 50-minute visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we may also reserve time following the exam for diagnostic records.
Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. Beginning treatment at the appropriate time ensures the greatest result and the least amount of time and expense. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7.

I've only had an initial consultation but it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. The front desk staff and assistants in particular were so lovely and accommodating. I spoke with Dr Jones and he was very informative and able to articulate the work that needed to be done in a very understandable way. I trust his opinion and could tell I was in good hands. Getting orthodontic work done can be a vulnerable process for some. Even when discussing the cosmetic side of things, he stuck to professional and technical language which I much appreciative. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience

Really happy with my treatment by Drs Winkler and Jones at Northcut. I'm an adult patient. They treated me with respect, were always willing to take time to answer questions about my treatment, and went the extra mile to make sure they achieved a great result. They are supported by an outstanding team of professionals. They are both also active professors at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Thoughtful treatment, friendly service. Great outcome, and always enjoyed going in to see them. Thanks!

Northcut Orthodontics provides the best of both worlds. Thorough, knowledgeable, professional , comprehensive exams and treatment and emphasis on excellent patient care and relations. Most importantly, they genuinely care about their patients and aren't just money grubbing like many specialty medical/dental professional practices. I like many, am terrifed of the dentist, not only the pain of any procedure, but the agony of the cost.
I was referred to Dr. Winkler by my regular dentist when I loosened my top front two teeth biting into something hard accidentally. It was the worst time in my life

Knowledgeable, patient, trustworthy, kind, punctual, are just a few words to describe the Northcut Orthodontics practice. My son had his braces taken off today (yay!) and it's been quite a journey from 5th to 11th grade. Dr. Winkler has taken care of our son as though he is family. As does everyone in the office, who go above and beyond to accommodate your family. My daughter is next up for orthodontic work and we wouldn't think of going anywhere else!!

I was referred to Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Winkler by my family dentist and couldn't be happier now that I finished my braces treatment! As an adult hearing I need braces and jaw surgery wasn't the greatest news but they were accommodating with different options to make the process better. I opted for the clear/ceramic braces that weren't as noticeable, and were very caring with close attention to detail throughout the entire jaw surgery recovery. It was very easy to trust you're in good hands and sets your mind at ease that you made the right decision choosing to come here. Thought

I was referred to Dr. Winkler and Dr. Shapiro by Dr. Letwin at Seattle Special Care Dentistry. After more than two years of braces, I got them off today! I have a nerve disorder in my face which causes a lot of pain and anxiety, and they have been so accommodating, scheduling me with Colleen (one of my favorite people in the world now) so that I could be comfortable and reduce my anxiety about these appointments. I just couldn't be happier. Dr. Shapiro doesn't practice there anymore but whenever I see him he still likes to check my bite. I don't have one bad thing to say and would

I was referred to Dr. Winkler's office by my dentist, after having a few of my front teeth shift causing some discomfort. As an adult, the thought of getting braces was a bit of a turn off (I had never had them) but knew this was going to be the only way to solve the pain I was experiencing.

After my initial consultation, I actually decided to get a second opinion (from a highly rated office found on Yelp) as I wanted to ensure the treatment options being recommended and price made sense.

Northcut was by FAR the superior choice. In fact, I felt like I hit the jackpot. From treatment schedule

I can't say enough good things about this office. First of all, I'm delighted and impressed with how well the orthodontia went. I'm completely pleased with the results.
From start to finish I have felt like the care has been excellent. I got good help with the original decision to go forward, kind and skilled care while I had braces, and I appreciate the follow-up now that the braces are off.
In addition, the office is incredibly well-run and pleasant. Everyone has a great way of interacting with patients. A somewhat minor example is that I always felt like there was enough time to get questions

I was referred to Dr. Shapiro's office by my teenaged daughter's dentist. I went in a bit wary, since these sorts of referrals are often based on medical professionals' cronyism, or so I thought. I'm pleased to say that I could not have been more wrong.

My daughter has autism and very limited language and communication skills in addition to sometimes "odd" mannerisms. Dr. Shapiro's staff could not have been more wonderful and genuine in the way they've interacted with her. They are friendly and kind but never condescending or phony, which has often been

Came to Northcut Ortho based on the recommendations of Seattle Special Care Dentistry across the hall.

I had been in a softball accident that knocked around my teeth and needed realignment although I had JUST finished a round of invisalign before the incident. Dr. Winkler and Shapiro were highly sympathetic and gave me a great price.

Every time I came into the office, everyone was extremely friendly and nice, even with my fear of the dentist and dentist-like folk. Really professional without seeming cold, and willing to work with you on your schedule, price restrictions, and other factors.

I just finished up my orthodontic work through Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Winkler. As a 27 year old getting full braces, they were great about working with clear brackets since I wasn't eligible for invisalign. They initially thought I would need jaw surgery - when I couldn't afford that they were great at improvising an alternative plan. I just got my braces off (3 months shy of the 2 years they projected!) and I couldn't be happier with the end result and the care they gave me. They made getting braces as a full fledged adult about as pleasurable as it can be!

My experience with Drs. Shapiro & Winkler has been great. These two doctors and their staff came well-recommended and I continue to see progress with my treatment.

Not only do they do a great job, they are also helpful and encourage you to ask questions about your progress. I couldn't be happier.

So far so good with this Sandpoint located orthodontist. Office shared/paired with Dr. Gina Trask (another stellar ortho), Dr. Shapiro has given us first rate service on an emergency and highly unique situation. Honest recommendations, direct answers to an onslaught of questions. He's a pro. Staff is extremely professional and caring. Office is impeccable. Phone messages returned. Appointments are available. Very nice and highly recommended for kids and adults needing ortho work or consult.
