Dr. Steven Sheiner is a board certified Optometric Physician and has been practicing in Boca Raton since 1998. He received his Doctorate in Optometry with Honors from Nova Southeastern University in 1997. Dr. Sheiner also completed an internship at the world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

Orthokeratology, also known as Ortho-K, is a special non-surgical vision correction procedure involving special gas permeable (GP) contact lenses that are worn each night while you sleep, to gently reshape your cornea and correct your vision. The cornea is the front part of your eye that helps shape light as it enters.
When you think of an eye exam, most people bring up this image in their mind because it is one of the basic tests of any eye examination. It is referred to as a Snellen Chart. Snellen charts are named after the Dutch ophthalmologist Herman Snellen who developed the chart in 1862. This type of eye chart can be used to measure visual acuity.

The name is appropriate because the staff makes you feel like family. It’s casual and relaxed yet professional. Dr Sheiner know his stuff and talks you through a very efficient and comfortable exam. Pt comfort seems very important to him and his demeanor instills confidence. I highly recommend this practice.

First time at Total Family Eyecare in Boca Raton. The optometrist doesn't feel the need to wash his hands between patients. I specifically asked him after I was brought back into the exam room a second time and got a nonsense answer. In ordinary times this should be a priority, during a pandemic even more so. I won't be returning.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit today at Total Family Eye care!! Every one was pleasant, and Dr. Sheiner was the best!! I've been to a number of eye doctors over the years, but I'm so glad I found this office. Dr. Shiner was great and really knowledgeable, not to mention patient with all of my questions. Most doctors rush in and out, but he took his time and showed me he really cares. The office is very modern and clean, and the staff was super friendly from start to finish, and I even got to try the latest contact lenses! SIX stars!
