Unlike a vision screening or other general eye test, comprehensive eye exams evaluate the entire health of the eye. They also help the optometrist or ophthalmologist determine your unique prescription. Comprehensive eye exams should begin as an infant to ensure proper eye and vision development. Ongoing eye health examinations at regular intervals are also important as many eye diseases and vision changes can occur without warning signs.
Eyes are the organs of vision. Through a complex process, they detect and focus light to create images. Vision begins when light rays are reflected off of an object and enters the eye through the cornea and then pupil. It then passes through the crystalline lens which refracts light to be focused on the retina.

Olson Eye Care is the absolute best. I have been going to them for many many years. I have seen Dr. Rick Olson and Dr. Angie Olson and they are both fantastic. When my insurance switched for a period of time, and didn't cover this clinic, I paid out of pocket to see them, because they are that great. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Both Dr. Rick Olson and Dr. Angie Olson are caring, kind and talented in what they do. Dr. Angie gave me helpful information and supported me in my lasik surgery endeavors years back and that was one of the best things I have done for myself. If you are

Had a great experience all the way from the front desk to purchasing glasses. They’ve been very accommodating in working with busy schedules and getting me in when it works for me. While Dr. Teclaw did a great job, Daniel in the glasses department did a superb job working with me on getting some much needed new frames. Couldn’t me happier! In addition their covid safety protocol made me feel very comfortable !

Didn't realize that the prescription I got at my old optometrist in Kentucky was wrong, so I went 9 months with a blurry lens. Scheduled an appointment here to get new glasses, and after my eye exam they read my lenses for free and determined the problem. The optometrists and opticians were very friendly and helpful, giving good critique on potential frames and helped me pick one that looked great. My glasses came in less than a week later, and I had forgotten what it was like to read out of BOTH eyes! I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for glasses or contacts! Will definitely

I have been going here for years. Recently brought my stepson in because he was having trouble reading and with his eyes so I wanted to rule out if it was dyslexia or actual eye problems. We saw Dr. Teclaw and she was amazing! With a set of glasses, his small eye issue will be corrected & help with his reading! As always, the office was quick & extremely helpful!! Keep rocking it!

The short version:
Easily the best experience I've had getting glasses in Madison (or anywhere else for that matter).
The slightly elaborated version:
I've been having a crazy difficult time filling a new progressive script. I've worn progressives since long before I "should" have needed to, so I'm fairly well used to them by now. But sadly, I found no joy getting my new script filled at well-known chain stores, other local optical stores, and through optometrists (and their affiliated clinic) at a local, very major university, all of which shall remain unnamed. Every attempt has led to glasses

I've been visiting Olson Eye Care for many years and always find the service and information to be very helpful. Dr Angie Olson is very patient descriptive through my visits. They have recently moved to a new location which even has a parking garage!! The location is a stones throw away. You'll WANT to book your visit on a very cold snowy day so you can go to a warm cozy car when done. They also have a very cool retinal photo tool that alleviates the dilation of the eyes for testing however it is a bummer for those that really enjoyed wearing those cheap disposable glasses after an eye appointment

I would not recommend this clinic. I have scheduled an appointment with elderly Olson to have a second opinion regarding my first prescription glasses, but when I came I was scheduled with Dr. Funkhouser. I did not feel she is accustomed to work with diverse customers plus her recommendation was way different than my original one. At this point I am the optometrist and have to decide which prescription should work for me.
It was waste of my time.

I've been going to Dr. Olson for years and years, ever since he was at Shopko, and I followed him over to his own clinic when he opened that up. So thorough and professional--really makes you feel like he cares about your eye health! And now his daughter is working with him, and she's fantastic too. They always have a great selection of frames as well--I always get compliments. I've been to other providers, Olson Eye Care is so much better.

Dr. Angie and her staff are outstanding. They are all very friendly, knowledge, went out of their way to help me out and I never felt rushed. Most eye care offices I've visited were too busy, rushed to get me in and out and appeared to be understaffed. This place is amazing and I am so happy to have Dr. Angie. She got me set up with my first contacts! I've always been told I wouldn't like them or they aren't suitable for me. I am so happy to have found Olson Eye Care and I look forward to returning for all of my eyecare needs! Thank you all, you are a great asset to this industry!
