I studied yoga philosophy before learning the postures. In 1999 I took a course in Asian Philosophy my freshman year of college where I was introduced to the Bhagavad Gita for the first time. Looking back, this text established the foundation and planted the seeds for how I approach my life. After moving to the Napa Valley in 2001 I frequented the San Francisco Zen Center to establish my meditation practice.
Yoga therapy practices are built upon inquiry and a relationship built over time. To ensure a greater rate of success there must be a willingness to practice the sequence we develop with an understanding that it will evolve as we begin to unwind years of acquired habits and patterns, leading to a greater sense of ease and health.
Yoga Therapy has the potential to resolve chronic pain, tension, fatigue, and stress, allowing you to navigate your life with more ease. After an appropriate intake and assessment, Yoga Therapy methods will focus on key symptoms and identify yoga methods tailored to each person's needs. Unlike a group yoga class, private Yoga Therapy sessions are customized for the individual, ensuring effective results.
For almost 4 years I've had a painful shoulder impingement that has limited my shoulder mobility. I reached out to Jessica De Lasaux, a former colleague, who has extensive yoga instructor training. She provided a 30 minute consult then customized a session for me that targeted my exact needs. I felt improvement within the first week.
