Services
Children's Harbor began shaping young minds in 1911. Hundreds of young children have been afforded the opportunity to gain confidence and leadership qualities through our superior early education and programs. We consider ourselves a leader in the early-care and education industry, particularly here in Hampton Roads and on the Eastern Shore.
Our scholarships ensure all children have access to key elements for a successful future. Children's Harbor offers income-based scholarship opportunities that help invest in a child's future. The scholarships contribute to the betterment of local communities by helping to build the future leaders of tomorrow.
Children's Harbor is a sponsor of the program. CACFP funds we are able to provide nutritious meals to all children enrolled in our program.

Joyanne Manning is the coordinator for Children's Harbor's Health & Nutrition program. I received my culinary degree in 2010 and have worked in restaurants, school and assisted living facilities in the area. I love cooking and all things food and nutrition. I originally started out in my career wanting to be a chef and maybe own a restaurant and after a few years I began leaning into nutrition.
Quality early care and education of young children is directly correlated to the knowledge and education of the teachers who work with them. Since 1974, the Community Training and Professional Development department (CTPD) has developed into the hub for quality professional development in our region.

My daughter has been enrolled in Children’s Harbor Chesapeake since September 2017. Communication amongst staff and parents is awful.
At the end of July a child in the Yellow Team tested positive for COVID-19, the daycare required that Yellow Team students & any siblings of that team not return for a 14 day period. Mr. Sean advised parents that they will not be responsible for the 14 day period however, I am being charged for one day in this period. “If you’re unhappy with our decision on this matter we do understand and will accept your notice to withdraw from the program”.

Need to educate front desk staff how to be professional at the Portsmouth location. In addition it’s not right for a parent to pay full price during the holiday when your alternate locations opened at 8 AM which was not convenient for all parents. In addition no information was provided far as what could help the parent .To charge families for a full week and the child only attended one or two days is a rip off, other daycare centers prorate. Also start taking the children on field trips, it’s important for younger children to adventure. The facility need to be upgraded and stop allowing your
