Initially developed by C. G. Jung, Analytical Psychology focuses on the complexity of the human psyche and the life-long development of the Self in dialogue with the personal and collective aspects of the unconscious. The theory and practice of Analytical Psychology makes use of symbolic material from the unconscious to deepen the individual's sense of purpose; as well, it addresses the psychological function of religious or spiritual experience.

A Jungian analyst or psychoanalyst is an individual who has been granted a diploma by a Jungian training institute accredited by the International Association of Analytical Psychology. The diplomate, as a member of IAAP, may then use the designation "IAAP" after his or her name.

Training requirements vary somewhat from institute to institute around the world, but accredited training universally includes an in-depth study and demonstrated mastery of the theories of C.G. Jung; controlled practice, under intense supervision, of Jungian analysis; and, most important, a lengthy personal analysis. There are a number of psychotherapists, knowledgeable of Jungian theory or sympathetic to Jung's worldview.
We are proud to announce the completed installation of Edward F. Edinger's personal and professional library of more than 1,200 volumes. Jung Study Center of Southern California.
