Preventive veterinary care is the cornerstone of keeping your pet their healthiest so that you and your pet can have more great years together. Since pets age more quickly than people do, it is critical to have regular physical examinations every 6-12 months to assess your pet's health. Annual age-appropriate lab tests, testing for heartworm and/or tick-borne diseases, and fecal tests for parasites may also be recommended for your pet.
Congratulations on your new puppy or kitten! This is an exciting time for you and your new furry family member's healthcare journey. Getting your new puppy or kitten off to a healthy start sets the stage for their lives as healthy adults. Introducing a new pet starts with a complete physical examination, appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing for parasites, and deworming.
Dogs and cats age much faster than their human companions. When an animal is considered a "senior" pet varies depending on their species, breed, and size. We recommend that once pets hit their senior years, they come into the vet for additional routine veterinary visits. Your aging pet may be showing early signs of osteoarthritis such as stiffness after rest or play, difficulty going up or down stairs, and reduced activity.
Periodontaldisease is an inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone that support the teeth. Painful tooth and bone loss can occur if this is not properly treated. Bacteria fromdentaldisease can infect vital organsincluding theliver, kidneys, andheart.
Periodontal (gum) disease is the most common problem we find in adult dogs and cats in our practice, affecting more than 80% of pets three years or older. If left untreated, dentaldisease can cause severe health risks. We recommend routine veterinary wellness exams forbothdogs and cats. During these exams, we will check your pet's teeth for signs of periodontal disease. If your pet hastartar buildup, we mayrecommendadentalcleaning.

I was a client with several pets of and on for a couple decades. My sons cat had a crisis. AFTER explaining how bad he was they told me that they hadn't seen him since a date before he was was born so they wouldn't be able to see him. They said we must have been taking him to another vet. I was going to explain that wasn't possible and we were in a pandemic we were not taking him anywhere. I was trying to explain that we had taken him to a clinic for his shots at a fraction of the expense and had him micro chipped. She was not having it. She was adamant that they hadn't seen him since before he

My animals have been attending Lyons Clinc for 7 years now. I have never had a bad experience. Today made a huge difference though. My senior dog came in for what I thought wouldn't be too major. My heart broke when found out he needed surgery. They immediately got him in the same day. He was well taken care of and came home that night. They even sent him with a certificate for bravery. Nice gesture and so glad my boy came home.

For as long as I've had animals, this has been the clinic they have attended. My dogs (and formerly, cats) have received impeccable care from the staff here. Even when I call and bother them for records over and over, they always assist me with a smile. The cost for flea and tick medicine is far cheaper than elsewhere and I have found that treatment is affordable as well. Dr. Bob has assisted me with some hard times (having to put down my dog) in such a caring manner. And I know my Pippa was treated like a queen when she was fixed.

I have read negative reviews on this site about Lyons Veterinary Clinic but we have gone here for YEARS with our beloved 4 legged babies. I wouldn't trust ANYONE as much. They are knowledgeable, compassionate, helpful and friendly. As a matter of fact, EVERYONE I know uses them and adores them. So if you're in need of a new vet, I highly recommend you don't listen to negative reviews. There is always someone who might be singled out.
