Far West Recycling has been a long time supporter of United Way of the Columbia-Willamette. Each Fall we run a company fundraising campaign that involves everyone and is both rewarding and FUN. From a "kiss the pig" contest to bingo, from a pie in the face contest to cakewalks and bake sales, anything to raise money for a worthy cause.
Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington has steadily grown in scope and programming since we were founded in 1958. We've evolved from presenting only a few classical music performances to currently providing a roster of over 200 skilled residency and performing artists with programs in multiple artistic disciplines and cultures.
How did Far West Recycling get involved in supporting a scholarship program at Lewis and Clark College?. One of our goals at Far West Recycling is to make a positive community impact. We can achieve this objective by becoming involved in our educational system. We need college graduates who are talented, highly skilled and informed people who may one day lead and support our community and become our employees.
We use belts, screens, magnets and labor to sort the material into different grades for baling and shipment. We offer a public depot at our Hillsboro location to receive recyclable items from the public.

Very accommodating recycling depot for the public. Well organized for safety and cleaniness. If you are going to recycle here please don't leave without putting $5 (donation) in the yellow box near the recycle bins! This helps to cover their recycling costs and keeping it free to the public to recycle at their facility.

They had the gate open and a bit of DIY drop-off for Electronics, which is good, but I was directed there by the Goodwill, on a Sunday afternoon to recycle a couch that was too "Well loved" to be accepted there.
There were people operating machines but nobody came down to the front doors. The office had a sign for the office hours.
If you're going to have a drop off area, and leave the larger area open you should give more clear information about what you are open for, otherwise just close the gate and post your hours like other business.
We tried getting people's attention for twenty minutes

Good place to go when you end up with too much cardboard, but their plastic recycling is so restrictive that they are not of much use there. Despite what some old info on their website indicates (pdf linked from a Google search) and what I have seen in a recent review, they do not take styrofoam of any kind.
