I'm not renewing my lease at 450 Sutter. Instead of just shutting down, I'm merging with Dr. Amy Tran's practice (Looksie Optometry at 1314 Polk Street, between Bush and Pine). Running an optometry practice, like many small businesses, requires wearing many 'hats' besides eyecare, and after almost forty years, though I've enjoyed the challenges and rewards of that multitasking, I opted to simplify my work life.

Dr. Slamovich is great - knowledgeable, professional, personable, and thorough. She explained everything going on with my eyes, providing additional observations and insights along the process. She will answer questions and you're not feeling rushed, unlikely many other experiences at the doctor's office. She will also work with you to ensure you're getting the best deal combination with your insurance + sharing about rebates from contact lens companies.

This is my go to place for my eye exams. Dr. Rochelle Slamovich is awesome, she's professional and friendly. I like our random chats.
The receptionist, Virginia is very knowledgeable about what lense type would go best with your eyeglasses so that it won't appear bulky etc.
I highly recommend that people come here, but keep in mind that there's not a huge selection of designer frames, so it's best to call first to see if they have what you're looking for in regards to eyeglass frames, so that they can order it for you.
Also, they accept a variety of vision insurance

Super easy to schedule an appointment. No wait time once I got there.
Dr. Slamovich was warm and communicative. She explained everything going on with my eyes, showed me how all the various tools & machines worked, and walked me through the scans & photographs of my eyes she was looking at.
The cherry on top was that her office helped me order discounted sunglasses using my insurance, and even allowed me to exchange the first pair of Ray Bans with another model after they didn't fit well.

I have been seeing Dr. Slamovich for about 6-7 years now, but I've been going to the eye doctor for more than 30 years, so trust me when I tell you that she's fantastic. She's warm, gentle, and tells you entertaining stories during your visit. She will help you figure out how to navigate your insurance to get the most bang for your buck, and she will not upsell you on things you don't need. Highly recommended.

New patient referred to Dr. Slamovich from my OD that retired. WOWOWOW!! Dr. Slamovich is very professional, sincere and comprehensive! Don't go anywhere else--please go to her! And did I mention she got a replacement gas perm over-nighted to me while I was on vacation too. Outstanding service! Stop reading this and call her office now to make an appt!

Dr. Slamovich is kind, thoughtful very good at explaining eye issues, and patient.
I came in for a relatively routine need-- to update my prescription and get new glasses. The lenses never quite worked, then the frames were slightly damaged. Not Dr. Slamovich's fault, but she took care of it and her staff were apologetic, helpful, and cheerful the entire time.

I was able to make an appointment here quickly, and Dr. Slamovich was very friendly and accommodating. She definitely knows her stuff and did a great job of explaining things to me. When I had to reschedule an eye dilation multiple times, her office staff were always happy to help, even if I was the one being difficult.

Clean, bright office. The doctor is friendly, cheerful and helpful - she even helped me navigate my insurance so that I could pay a lesser amount out-of-pocket (something I wouldn't have thought to do myself). Was able to schedule an appointment week-of, and the whole process was painless.
The one area for improvement is that the front desk staff don't share the doctor's demeanor - the folks I've talked to on the phone/met live seem kind of apathetic and unenthusiastic. But don't let that stop you from checking out this optometrist!

I refer so many friends to Dr. Slamovich and Dr. Chan---everybody that I refer thanks me profusely. I started going when I worked next door due to the convenience and now I am a loyal patient. They do meticulous work, have a down to earth vibe and take really good care of me and my eyes. I highly recommend them!

Okay. I was finally able to connect with the Dr's office and made an appointment for the following day. The new office is AMAZING, with beautiful views!
I really do like Dr. Slamovich. She is super friendly. It's almost like you're having wine and cheese and great conversation rather than getting a check up.

I visited Dr. Rochelle Slamovich at SF Eye Site on April 17, 2014 to update my contact lens prescription. As of March 31, 2015, I still do not have that contact lens prescription, and yet she continues to send reminders that I owe $56.
Rochelle does not value her patient's time. I arrived with mountains of paperwork to fill out, and then I sat and watched as everything was typed in. What's worse is that they "forgot" to finish my appointment, so even after trying on a variety of lenses, I was unable to get a contact lens prescription. She insisted I return to have my eyes

Dr. Slamovich is by far the best optometrist I've ever been to. She's extremely personable and you automatically feel comfortable around her.
I've never actually had an optometrist take the time to explain the pictures taken of your eye during your exam and why they look the way they do until coming to this office.
Best yet? This office doesn't make you do that scary air puff eye test!

I almost don't want to review Dr. Slamovich because I am afraid she will get booked up to the point that I won't be able to see her anymore.
But she deserves 5 stars. She makes my visits super convenient, explains everything thoroughly, and doesn't push you to buy frames in her store (though I totally do, anyway, because she has tons of cute ones and everyone working there is really helpful.)
She's also just pleasant to be around. I don't think I have ever liked any of my doctors this much!

Traveling away from home and missing a single contact lens - I had my prescription with me and Dr Rochelle's office was nice enough to give me a single contact lens! (Whew! Thanks much!)
Much unexpected kindness, after having several other optometrist in the area deny the purchase of a single contact lens (claiming they'd have to order and can't even sell a single unit).

I needed to get a routine eye exam since I hadn't had one in a while. I found Dr. Slamovich on Yelp and scheduled an appointment. Everything about my exam was fantastic. The office is in a great location on Market Street, very easy to get to for FiDi workers like myself.
Dr Slamovich is extremely professional and knowledgable has great bedside manner. She even emailed me photos of my retina that she took during the exam, which I found to be really cool! - nice, quiet and no-frills upstairs office
- quick service, no waiting around
- pleasant & professional demeanor
- not sales-y (said my existing prescription is more than enough, no need to get new glasses unless I really want new frames)
- said i could skip the dilation this year since my eyes looked otherwise fine and have not changed
- takes VSP
- decent selection of frames
- when i asked, took the time to suggest
