Golden Slippers was founded in 1979 in the Lynnhaven area of Virginia Beach and Windsor. We have four locations. Lynnhaven, General Booth/Redmill, Kempsville/Greenbrier andHaygood. The Studio has FABULOUS instructors and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Creative ballet/tap, offered from 3-5 yr olds, is designed to teach basic technical skills in a light, fun manner.
The children then graduate to barre (ballet/tap combination classes) then into hour specialty classes based on their interest. The instruction is not only designed to teach, but to nurture each child to grow as individual dancers and have them ENJOY their overall dance experience. We are proud to have been voted "Best of the Beach" Dance Studio GOLD Award for the last seventeen years in a row!

Services
We offer ballet, tap, pointe, modern, lyrical, hip hop, jazz and ballroom. We are proud members of Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, Professional Dance Teachers Association. Our program is designed to take students from their first movement class through a comprehensive dance curriculum.
Susan Browney Dillon, owner and president, Golden Slippers Inc. | 2019 Entrepreneurial Excellence award winner. Starting the company: I founded Golden Slippers in 1979 after graduating from college and acquiring some professional dance experience. It was a dream derived from my childhood passion for dance.
Relive this years recital again. The recital will be recorded live at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, VA with state of the art high definition cameras. The best shots are edited into a full length show for you to enjoy again and again. There are two versions of each show to choose from DVD (standard Definition) and Blu-Ray (High Definition).

Everything you’d expect in a dance studio……and more! 🥰 This place has renewed my daughters excitement, confidence in herself and how she dances after she was removed from a class (a couple of hours before she was supposed to be attending) because she was “not getting the technique” [literally] after only 3 tries (of course this was at another… studio…NOT Golden Slippers). Needless to say we made a move and our only regret was not coming here sooner. This is an amazing place to be and the staff is so friendly and the instructors actually have

This is our first summer attending Golden Slippers. I had many friends recommend Golden Slippers Dance Academy and then I seen that they were running such a great summer rate that I had to enroll my daughter.
They have several locations throughout Virginia Beach and tons of hours and variety of dance classes. They even have a good amount of apparel and accessory inventory on sale so you don't have to search else where for leotards, skippers, tap shoes, etc.
All the staff members have been so nice answering any questions I had. My daughter loved her ballet/tap instructor. Overall top notch

Some teachers are great and the rest ruin it for everyone with bad attitudes and just overall favoritism and down right being snotty. I gave it a year and 2 summer classes and I was done. I gave it more than enough tries and even tried different class types but still had issues. 🤷♀️ just not for me or my daughter.

They are all about the money which is obvious by their lack of thought towards their dancers. To schedule the youngest dancers to perform at almost 11 PM is not looking out for their best interest! Also to have teachers on stage upstaging the dancers is ridiculous. We were completely unimpressed with them. We will not be going back and strongly suggest everyone else think twice about taking here.

I highly recommend Golden Slippers! Both of my daughters took dance for the first time this year at their Lynnhaven studio. Such an amazing experience for them. They loved their teacher, and had a blast! To top it all- this company goes above and beyond to put together a phenomenal recital. You can see the heart, dedication and planning the owner puts into it all. We loved being a part of it all this year, and look forward to many more to come!

Worst of the schools we checked out when we moved to town. I think they must just find people off the street to ‘teach dance”. Also the most chaotic recital I have ever had to sit through. I would not recommend this studio to anyone who is actually looking for solid technical instruction. Of you are just looking for fun it would probably be an ok place.

I did dance at Golden Slippers starting when I was 3 in the 1980s! The teachers were always kind, helpful, and full of skill. I graduated from Golden Slippers while in high school. It gave me a good foundation to continue to dance in college. Love Ms Susan! I'm still waiting for her to open studios in NC, so my daughter can go!
