Like many other towns in Eaton County, Eaton Rapids was first settled by people from Ohio, including Amos and Pierpont Spicer, who platted the village in 1838, and Benjamin Knight, who became the first postmaster that same year. The town began because of significant interest in the crop of timber in the area, with a sawmill marking the start of a community.
It eventually was incorporated as a village in 1871, and as a city a decade later. A major attraction is the historical Island Park built at the turn of the century, featuring an old stone bridge, several statues and memorials, with picnic area. Eaton Rapids offers high quality living with unique entertainment and recreation opportunities.

Honestly one of the worst places I lived in Ann Arbor and it’s all thanks to the management there. Not only was our heat lost in the middle of winter with no communication until we reached out, but they didn’t offer any compensation until months later and never offered alternate living arrangements at a reasonable temperature. Now our energy bill is sky high despite myself and my roommate having been moved out with keys turned in since early June. Somehow the AC got turned on after we turned it off before leaving and they have no idea how that could have happened. Yeah right. Save yourself
