Phew.... this horrible woman's name popped up in my email account and just seeing her name gave me PTSD of the worst memories of my dealings with her during a very long and contentious custody fight with my exhusband.
This all happened in about 2008, so, this horrible person has been a failure for YEARS. I was in the midst of a very horrible custody battle with my ex and we were court ordered to see this woman for coparenting purposes. Our first session was OK, then she brought in my ex's girlfriend and my boyfriend. After that session, things deteriorated from there. It became increasingly

WARNING STAY AWAY! Dr. Carol Hirshfield Ph. D (PSY 16827) (New York, California, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Washington State)was unilaterally retained by my daughter's mother. Dr. Carol Hirshfield treated my daughter for two years at a cost of over $14,000. She was paid to try to coach my four-year daughter into making false allegations against me by showing my four-year-old daughter a book on child molestation and telling her what to say, or how to act.
My daughter's mother also used Jessica Bernal MA LMFT (84944). Ms. Bernal was coaching my daughter at her mother's home. My daughter

Like everyone else here who have made comments, I wish I had read these prior to engaging Carol as a coparenting therapist.
She focuses on money and getting paid more than anything else. She is exceptionally difficult to schedule time with, and when we fired her because of it ( and several other reasons), she had the audacity to tell me I was the one who couldn't schedule well with her.
My experience mirrors others on this thread, in that she takes sides between parents and will often be rude and comment demeaning remarks to the party she doesn't like. It's extremely unprofessional

Such a disappointing experience. I was so excited to find a teen problem solving skills group for my son who was super excited about it. We live far away from her west side offices but willing to make the trip weekly. Once I finally made contact (which took some effort), I spent a long time on the phone with Carol proving info about my son and his challenges. At the end of the call she said he staff would be in touch to schedule an In person $60 consult with me and my son. There were some red flags with communication which I ignored such as no follow up to schedule the consult which took a

I would advise all single parents to use extreme caution before deciding to work with Dr. Hirshfield! Throughout the class, she seemed rather "checked out" and would often confuse the participants (and make direct personal attacks on individuals she did not like). After cancelling, two COPE co-parenting classes in our series at the last minute due to "personal reasons", Dr. Hirshfield then refused to allow me to reschedule the classes and insisted the only way I could make up the classes was by paying an additional fee. In my opinion, she is only in this business to make

I always thought that a therapist who works with divorced or divorcing couples would try to mediate conflict. Instead, Carol decided to weigh in with her opinion on every matter big or small. Sometimes she weighed in my way... but it always felt inappropriate. My overall impression of this person is that she enjoyed watching spikes in conflict and cared not at all for the innocent children involved in the divorce.

After three weeks of postponing and extremely impersonal communication by her and her staff, Dr Hirshfield canceled a co-parenting class on me last minute. I am only reading these past reviews now and really wish I would have before inquiring. A lot of precious time lost and a truly not-fun experience. Please IM direct for more detail. Andrew

Dr. Hirschfield is highly regarded in the narrow circles of high conflict divorce and co-parenting; but our experience was far from her good reputation. While she may be good for setting up a co-parenting schedule, we did not find her effective in helping us make progress in real co-parenting. By most accounts she became emotionally involved, lost objectivity and tried to become overly controlling. While we were seeing her for co-parenting, I felt she tried to expand her role to become the therapist for the children. From my perspective, she was much more focused on billing us (often incorrectly

We worked with Carol for several years from the first weeks of separation onward. While I felt she had a calming influence on us at first, and seemed to be able to navigate our conflicts in a balanced way, as the animosity continued and started to affect our child very negatively, she wasn't able to keep pace with the increasing problems. Ultimately she encouraged me to make a bad decision that I was never able to repair, and then essentially told us that we should find someone new because she couldn't help us. I have never had such a disappointing experience with a therapist. If your
