Vision First Optometry (formerly Vision Works Optometry) has a long history of providing the Modesto Area with high quality eye care from a dedicated team since 1984. Our staff has a combined total of 135 years of experience in the optical field, with nearly all of the staff having been a part of the Vision Works team between twelve and thirty years.

As many of you know, Dr. George Patton has been caring for several older members of his family as he continued to practice optometry at Vision Works. It is with careful thought and consideration for the best of our patients that Dr. Patton has decided to retire and pursue his dreams of farming in our beautiful valley and spending time with his parents and family.
The small, privately owned business of Vision Works Optometry was started in Modesto in 1984 by George Patton, O.D. However, around the same time, another entity across the country also started a business called Visionworks. As that company grew and has now become a large national chain-type optical store, we at the Vision Works Optometry in Modesto CA have found ourselves in a situation where the time has come to change our name.

Great office very clean and modern. They should put a sign with the office name outside though. It just says optometry outside.Dr and staff were very nice! The glasses are a little pricey but I guess they would be most of them are name brand. Took about 10 days for me to get my new glasses and I love them.

Eye dr got my prescription very wrong. Brought in my previous prescription with me, and she still didn’t get it right.
Then when attempting to order glasses staff was pushy and rude; they too ordered the wrong prescription wasting my time and leaving me without glasses. Then they wouldn’t help me fix it so I had to contact my insurance to have them do it.

STAFF - When you walk in the door, you are warmly greeted. These are nice, warm people. Lupe was so like the the leader of attitude and knowledge. She was so kind and humorous. She can figure out a way in which to help you. What a way to start: going into a doctor's office and you are happy to be there.
DOCTOR- Amazing. Warm. Knowledgeable. Caring. The Doctor meets with you to build a relationship and confidence before I even go to the exam room. I appreciated that sensitive practice. It gives her time to explain the earlier tests taken by the staff.

I highly recommend Dr. Bray! She is very kind, thorough, knowledgeable, and makes you feel at ease. I first went to her eight years ago during her early years of practicing when she was in the office of Dr. Wing in Ceres. At that time she found a rare condition that I had. Recently I noticed that I now need glasses. Dr. Bray had made such a big impression on me years ago so I tracked her down through Google and found that she now had her own practice in Modesto.
The moment that I walked into her beautiful office, I was greeted with smiles from all of her staff members. Lupe signed me in, also

Great place!! Very accommodating if you need last minute appointments. I made an appointment and they were able to schedule me in within 1 to 2 days! They have renovated the whole office and its beautiful!! They are super helpful and made the experience very easy. I didnt wait at all to be seen and was in and out. I have been coming here for about 5 years now and look forward to many more! Thanks Doc and to your team!

I have been wearing glasses since I was 8, so needless to say I have been to my share of Optometrists. I found myself in need of a new one after the one I had been going to retired several years ago, I hit jackpot coming here. Dr. Bray Ortega and her staff were efficient, friendly, and most importantly skilled. If your in need or looking for a change, I can't recommend this office enough, you will not be disappointed.
