Visual Acuity at Distance and Near - Is vision clear and single at far and close distances? Clear sight at short distances is critical to reading, writing, close work, computer use, etc. Eye Health - Complete assessment of the external and internal ocular structures of the eye to ensure proper health and function.
Vision therapy is a sequence of neurosensory and neuromuscular activities individually prescribed to develop, rehabilitate, and enhance visual skills and processing. It is an individualized treatment program designed to improve overall visual function and performance. The use of lenses, prisms, filters, occluders, specialized instruments, and computer programs is an integral part of vision therapy.
Last year one week after starting second grade, our daughter Sarah began to cry everyday when being dropped off at school. After this continued for well over a month, we took Sarah to a psychologist expecting that the psychologist would work with Sarah on anxiety issues. Instead the psychologist determined that Sarah was struggling due to a combination of attentive deficit disorder and reading and visual processing disorders.

We had a great experience getting a comprehensive eye exam for our daughter (age 7) who is experiencing dizziness and headaches when reading despite her 20/20 vision. Nicole was very good with her and never said anything that might make her feel there was something "wrong" with her, even when she was explaining issues she was having with eye teaming, tracking and visual processing. She was thorough and took her time evaluating and explaining things. I'm very thankful we found this place!

Dr. Gurbal and friendly staff are fantastic. Dr Gurbal engaged with the kids on a personal level, truly showing interest in them. Was great with both my 10 year old and very busy 3 year old. She noticed some tracking issues with my son and gave us some specific exercises to do at home to help it improve. Highly recommend!

My daughter received a thorough visual evaluation with Dr. Gurbal that was extremely helpful in understanding her vision issues. Dr. Gurbal and the Office Manager and easy to work with, and I appreciated coming back in-person to receive the feedback from the evaluation. Now we have started vision therapy with Jazmine Barnes and my daughter loves her. I was worried that my daughter would not enjoy vision therapy but Ms. Jazmine makes it fun and my daughter enjoys the time spent at the office. We have only had three sessions so far but I have been surprised to already see improvements. I have no

My daughter and I have been seeing Dr. Gurbal for the past 5 years. She was recommended by my daughter's Occupational Therapist and has helped her get vision on track after we discovered some reading challenges while she was in Kindergarten. Since that time, she has flourished in reading and is way above her grade level in this area. Dr. Gurbal is very keen and thorough with every examination and I am so thankful we found her when we did. Because of the process of my daughter I started seeing her as well so she is now our family optometrist. My daughter still gets excited about her visits

Dr. Gurbal was great! She helped fit me for my first pair of contacts. The whole process went smoothly, from the eye tests to coordinating with my insurance. I had the exam done the last time I was in Georgia (where I'm originally from) and they worked with me to get the contacts shipped to me in DC. I would definitely recommend them.
