Advanced Eyecare Of New York
Advanced Eyecare of New York is a professional corporation established in 1996 by Dr. Daniel Laroche to provide highly specialized early detection and treatment of ocular disease with emphasis on glaucoma, diabetes and cataract. We are located in uptown Manhattan and Queens Village New York. We accept most insurances and have affordable rates.

If you have glaucoma, you and your physician should work together to protect your vision in the years ahead. With early diagnosis and therapy, glaucoma rarely leads to blindness. Early testing and an accurate diagnosis, along with long-term treatment, are the keys to maintaining your vision. Take good care of yourself and your eyes.
Services

In many cases, glaucoma optic nerve damage occurs from high eye pressure. Nerve damage can usually be stopped or slowed by lowering the eye pressure. Most glaucoma treatment, with medicines, laser, or conventional surgery, is designed only to lower the eye pressure. Some eyes with glaucoma optic nerve damage continue to deteriorate despite having the lowest possible eye pressures.
Another important tool used to examine and measure the optic nerve is the visual field test. This measures how well the optic nerve functions in carrying visual information to the brain. Most visual field tests measure the ability of the patient to recognize light at each area of the retina. Testing of the visual field and examination of the optic nerve are the most important determinants of whether or not there is glaucoma.
A comprehensive treatment plan for glaucoma may include a range of complementary and alternative therapies. Eat foods rich in bioflavonoids and carotenes, such as dark berries, dark leafy greens, and yellow and orange vegetables. Reduce foods that may dramatically alter levels of sugar in your blood, such as sweets, fruits, and refined foods.
If you think of the eye as a camera, there is a lens in the eye which does the work of focusing the image on to the retina (the sensitive inner layer of the eye ball akin to the photographic plate). This lens is normally clear but due to age or other reasons it can become cloudy thereby not forming a clear image and causing blurred vision.

I stopped in yesterday to see if someone could repair my new shades that had gotten stepped on. Isaac graciously fixed them free of charge while I waited. They have a nice range of fashionable sunglasses and refreshments to enjoy while browsing. I will go to them when the time comes to buy my next pair!
