Kerf is committed to creating a sustainable product. In addition to our exclusive use of FSC certified sustainable wood, low VOC finishes and formaldehyde free glues, we are voluntarily participating in a carbon offset program to ensure that our products are not contributing to global warming. On average each kitchen we build pays for about two metric tons of carbon offsets, which are purchased quarterly through The Gold Standard.
Visit them and learn how you can get involved. We are located in the heart of Northwest Seattle, in Interbay. It is a 9000 square foot section of a warehouse originally built in the 1940s as a millwork supply company. The majority of our cutting and joinery is done with a CNC router. This means a lot of the "cabinet making" work happens in the office, on a computer.

Services
Mark and Jessica enjoy cooking as a team, so they asked us to design a kitchen that works well for simultaneous prep work and cooking. This streamlined set of cabinets helped finish off a remodel of a 1960's North Seattle home. Here at Kerf, we know that when things are designed well, you can love them well.
This colorful staircase was the centerpiece of a remodel and second floor addition to a Seattle bungalow. This bookcase was built to occupy an existing interior french door opening in a small Seattle Bungalow. Joel and Julia have since built a new house, but they brought the bookcase with them. In addition to our cabinetry, our shop also produces a fair amount of freestanding furniture.
Need an inviting, sturdy, adaptable display for your storefront? Kerf Wall can adjust as your inventory changes and our minimalist hooks, cubbies, and shelves are perfect for highlighting special items. Give your products the frame they deserve. Display it with Kerf Wall. Give your employees the freedom to organize their office just the way they like it.
To come up with a price estimate for you, we need to know the overall dimensions of the cabinets you need. How wide, tall, and deep can we go? Photos and drawings are really helpful; Take a few snapshots of the room we are working with. Add a simple sketch with a few dimensions and we can usually get a good idea of the space.
To get a price, please tell us about your project and give us some rough dimensions of what you're looking for. You can submit your information on our quote request form and we will get back to you in a few days! On average, it's about 3-4 months from the first design conversation to delivery.
The design stage for a kitchen can take as little as 4 weeks, but it depends on how long it takes to make sure you're happy with the layout and then we need to confirm all the measurements after that.Once the design is finalized and all the measurements are confirmed, it takes 8 weeks for us to produce the cabinets.

I got another project done with Kerf Design. This time it's my turn, the garage. Juli as usual comes thru for us with a fantastic design yet practical. Quality is my priority so I went with Kerf Design because of prior experience, and they don't disappoint. I love my garage now with all the storage, feels good working with a clean organized area.

I contacted Kerf on a whim last summer after seeing so many lovely pins on pinterest. I have a mid-century house that needed a new bathroom and couldn't find a vanity I wanted. They responded so quickly and had ideas to me super fast! It was a wonderful experience and everyone was responsive. They were always so nice when I popped by their shop too, which I recommend to anyone considering using them. The process is a unique one and the shop is impressive. This is high quality workmanship! Since last summer, I hired them again to build my kitchen cabinets. I can't even put into words how

We wanted to have an built-in office setup built for an upstairs bedroom, and have a couple of custom credenzas built. We talked to three different cabinet makers, but ultimately chose Kerf to do our work. Why? Because we like their design concepts, which are very unique.
They were fairly easy to deal with, very informal, but knowledgeable and experienced. We got some good advice, and the final work was excellent. I only wish we'd had them build a credenza for our TV--we bought one at Crate and Barrel last fall, and now wish we hadn't.

We're the proud owners of four custom pieces of furniture designed by Nath Hartman, owner with his wife Kate of Kerf Design.
His designs are modern, clean lined, beautiful and very functional pieces, exquisitely crafted of architectural plywood with colorful, laminate surfaces that are durable and easy to clean. We have a T.V cabinet, a display cabinet, a custom display and paper drawer and a shoe storage entry table. Someday we'll have a kitchen designed and made by them I hope.
