Shale Oak Winery

Fantastic wines in a beautiful setting. To compliment the wines is a staff that makes you feel like family. Kate the wine club manager and Peter the general manager treated us like a king and queen . This winery is now one our favorites and will become a definite stop each time we visit . You need to give this wonderful winery a try, it's a two thumbs up experience. We had an excellent experience here on Friday afternoon. We sat in a nice outside area and chose a white flight. Our server (sorry, forgot your name!) was excellent. He explained each one, joked with the kids (they had sodas for the kids) and threw in a couple extra wines to try. The patio was very dog friendly and we enjoyed petting other guests dogs as well as the winery dog. :) We left with two bottles but would have brought more if not for the limits of our luggage! Definitely recommend visiting this one.

Mediocre wines. Small portions for tasting. But did offer some extra glasses. We liked the rose the most.

Stopped by last week for a glass of SUI (Grenache Blanc/Viogner blend) and fell in love with the place all over again! Peter and Kate were so helpful and informative, and quite funny. They make a great team.

There's something for everyone at Shale Oak! The building is a LEED-certified architectural masterpiece. The grounds are well-maintained, picturesque, and perfectly pet-friendly. They have a fabulous selection of whites and reds as well as snacks and non-alcoholic beverages like San Pellegrino and Coke. Such a thoughtful, intentional space all-around. Amazing as always!

Nightmare experience. Let the pictures speak for itself. Then the server goes "we are not going to charge you for the cheese plate" in my head couldn't believe it.. like I hope you won't charge me for a plate of mold which would kill me.. And the wine was sub par.. Avoid!

Went by chance as we drove by, SO glad we stopped! Joey was super informative and had lots of information. Congrats on your Masters Joey! Joined our first wine club here. Loved everything we tasted, red or white!

Great Unique Selection of wines that definitely go well with the modern feel. The customer service is definitely on par with the fancy decor, will definitely be going back again.

Wonderful tasting area and great patio. The staff was kind, courteous and informative. The wine was some of the best I tasted in Paso. Put this winery on your list to stop at and taste.

Billy was the best! Love their special series "element" wines, such as the SUI! Their Cab is also a great price and beats paying the tasting fee! If you stop by, make sure to say hi to the dogs (and don't feed them too much cheese)

This place had a really nice patio for wine tasting. Shaded and cool, it made a nice place to hang out. I liked their cab sauvignon the best. Nice relaxing atmosphere. I would go back. I bought about a case of wine here. I have not opened at home yet.

Sustainable and eco-friendly Winery with beautiful decor and outside seating areas. The Fu and petit Verdot were standouts. Cherry on top was being visited by the friendliest trio of pups.

Beautiful grounds and tasting room but wines were sub par. The zin was awesome but everything else, not so much. We had a lady named Mary who knew NOTHING about the wines she was serving us. She was not personable at all, just short and seemed off. I was recommended this place and had high hopes but it wasn't what I was expected.
The only reason I expected more was because my fiancé and I were the only two in the whole place. We just expected a little bit of a nicer experience. The restrooms also smelled really bad.

Beautiful building, friendly staff delicious wines! Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Covid times make things more challenging but you wouldn't notice here! excellent service, excellent hygiene practices and mask wearing, lots of distance at tables, etc seamless rollout. the staff is exceptional and friendly. Matthew and Katie provided a great welcome. we did both the classic ($15) and exclusive ($25) tasting and every wine was divine. Come visit!

We had an amazing day! Beautiful setting, amazing wine, and just the sweetest companion (Gus the pup). Katie, is just a sweetheart and is very knowledgeable about all their wines. Do yourself a favor, check this winery out!

Nice sustainable place, fun to have live music on a Saturday with a great patio. The wine was light and full of flavor. I loved the rose and the Syrah.

I've been to at least 70+ wineries in Paso Robles. This place is in my top 3. I tell everyone I know who loves wine to start here and then work their way up VIneyard drive to some other hidden gems.

As you approach this building you will be in Awe at the architecture. It's an earth friendly certified sustainable operation they have going.

The wine is spectacular and will not break the bank. Their Syrah is so tasty and rich for only around $25. The design and color schemes are so attractive you will want to have the bottles just to decorate your kitchen. The wines here have character

This winery is super dope. The facility itself is artsy and eclectic and they have a passion for being sustainable in the way they farm and having as little impact on the environment. My personal favorite wine from Shale Oak Winery is the Petite Sirah. This is definitely a winery we will be returning to again!

Environmentally friendly and delicious wine to boot. This place is equally as beautiful as it is conscious. Come when the purple sage is blooming. Enjoy the ku and the ka.

I love exploring new roads and new wineries. A quick accidental turn onto the wrong road gave us a great day of new wineries and a fun adventure.

Shale Oak Winery was our first stop. The cool building and amazing large stained glass drew us in. I didn't know much about Shale Oak, so I was open to learning more.

We were greeted by their friendly wine pourer (whose name escapes me!) and she started by explaining that the building was recently built (2011) and is a LEED Green Building. The buildings roof serves to recycle water for grey-water use and everything is built with a purpose. I

Highly recommend this winery. Unique building, impressive sustainability efforts, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very lovely building, both inside and out.
The wines were very enjoyable and cater to a range of tastes, some incredibly smooth & fruit forward while others were big, bold & high tannins.
