Dover Canyon Winery
Dover Canyon Winery is located on Vineyard Drive in the Willow Creek appellation. Dan Panico, owner and winemaker of Dover Canyon, has long believed that the west strip of calcareous soil along Vineyard Drive is optimum for growing Zinfandel and Rhone varieties. Our estate vineyard features Organic, Dry Farmed Zinfandel and Syrah.

Our production is focused on sustainable practices, and small lots of artisinal wines, often vineyard designated. With a love for our heritage grape of Paso Robles, we seek out Dry Farmed, Mountain Grown, and Old Vine Zinfandel from local vineyards. Our playful label, the bright blue dog with the big red tongue is an original piece of art, painted by family member Ed Smith.
Services
All purchases under your wine club account will be accrued to earn you a greater discount. Friends and family members, who visit the tasting room, will receive your discount and help you to earn a greater discount. You may substitute any wine in the current shipment to create your own customized wine selections.
A lovely blend from Guyomar Vineyard and our Estate Tre Noce Vineyard in the Willow Creek District. This wine will open up and age beautifully. Toasty oak and vanilla on the nose, leading to robust flavors of boysenberry and blackberry with a dry, earthy finish. Bright fruit flavors, strawberry, wild berry and cherry with a mineral character and white pepper spice.

Before this was a Winery, it was my grandparents home and Walnut farm. My brothers, cousins and the rest of the family spent many firsts here and we all have amazing memories! I even took my daughter and husband to visit and sit on the same swing I swung on as a kid!!!

The owners are super friendly and down to earth, and the house and tasting room are really cute! We popped in here on a whim, and ended up joining the club because we really loved the wine here. A nice find on the Paso wine loop!

A great winery surrounded by walnut trees! We were welcomed by Dan, the owner and winemaker, who is very humble and soft-spoken. The property is absolutely spectacular. Unfortunately the smoky skies dropped visbility and made it a little tougher to be outside.

The Cujo Zinfandel and the Cabernet were my two favorite bottles on the tasting. Dan took time to explain the wine and gave us some background on the winery, as well as his own experience. He knows a lot about wine and clearly enjoys what he does, and he puts a lot of love and passion into his wine.

I would definitely recommend this to

We loved the simplicity of this setting. No big frills, just great wine. Besides Poalillo Vineyard, this was the only place we bought wine. The owner is a great guy with an easy manner and hands that showed his hard work in his vineyard. Hats off to you!!

My husband and I have driven past this winery many times telling ourselves we need to stop by one of these days. That day finally came a couple years ago. Dan, the owner and wine maker was in the tasting room tasting his wines! He was quiet but very pleasant. Then they started pouring us their wines. Every one better than the next! Well we signed up for the wine club and never looked back! His wife is darling and always with a big smile greeting you as you come through the doors. If you like great people and great wine stop by!

Just opened the 2010 Cujo for Saturday night dinner with Beef and onion ragu recipe from America's Test Kitcyen, wow! Delicious, cherries and pepper, structure and backbone. All of the good stuff, none of the bad. We will be back!

We were members here for a few years and during our recent visit the owner was very snarky and rude. To be fair, she was very busy and could have used some help. Still, no excuse to be rude to customers who were just drinking wine and enjoying their trip. Membership canceled. Their zins are decent.

I wanted all six that we tried, but settled on four. Sweeter zins, small but charming little tasting room. I would come back here for sure!

One of the 3 great wineries we visited in the Paso Robles area!

Dover Canyon Winery offers a smallish tasting room inside a quaint blue house. You can really get some wonderful pictures around the property as it is beautiful, especially while the sun is setting. The outside ambiance of this winery was great, the grounds had a porch swing with freshly cut wood underneath a tree. Cool!

The woman who helped us with our wine tasting was wonderful and talked us though the wine selection and had a great personality. The standouts in my eyes was the Cujo Zinfandel (on a side note is Paso Robles known

I have had many wines, but none has left a grand impression on me than Dover Canyon Cuju Zinfandel wine. It all started back in 2007 when I was stationed in San Diego, CA where a group of my friends decided to try a local wine bar. We all had different preference but, decided to try one we never seen before, Cuju. We all loved it, we loved it so much we bought some to take home. I went on deployment for a couple of months and decided to meet up at our spot again, come to find out no more Cuju. I told myself when I had the time I would find some. Which leads to July 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona, where

HEY Rigo...sorry you were disappointed. Wines are awesome and worth the stop. 18 people showing up without a reservation is arrogant ESPECIALLY small wineries.
All the wines at Dover Canyon are well suited for any pallet. Always stopping there when we are in the area.

We stopped here after visiting Daou after a recommendation from a guy on the shuttle from the parking lot. While Daou is a lovely spot, I much prefer the boutique wineries that are homey and welcoming. No shuttle needed here! Even more importantly, the wine was excellent and affordable, and much more to my taste. The pourer was super sweet and told us about a party of 20 that was angry because they expected to be accommodated without any notice. Not cool. This is a tiny tasting room (maybe 10) and there was 1 staff person, so plan accordingly if you come with a group and be respectful of small

Stopped in because it seemed dog friendly. (Dog picture on their label and other Yelp tips) We had our dog with us.

We quickly found out that Thunder, the winery St Bernard, is territorial and that we should have called first to let them know we had a dog coming with us. Just FYI for all you dog people.

After Thunder was sequestered we were able to try the wines and it was really great. We were the only ones there at around 3:30 pm on a Friday.

We took home a bottle of tres noce and a bottle of the cujo.

Lovely small family run business. Cool old farmhouse from around the turn of the

My wife and I discovered Dover Canyon Winery several years ago after a long day of tasting. Although my palate was mostly fried by the time I got there, I could still tell from the first sip of their zinfandel that this was a special winery. If you won't buy a wine unless an "expert" has given it a high rating or it has won ribbons at a county fair, don't bother to stop here. However, if you know wine and are looking for big, rich wines at a realistic price, Dover Canyon is definitely worth a visit.

Farther up Vineyard Drive, you can spend a lot more money on wines that

Cute blue house with an extensive tasting list.

Cost to worth it rating: 3
Return worthiness: maybe

Highlights:
- Tasting list: page long list and can taste as many as want
- Beautiful property: blue house on the hill with a tree swing and all
- Fun wine names: cuju, thunder, etc.
- Dog: Thunder (with the wine names after him) just chills out by the barrels

Lowlights:
- Girl pouring seemed really bored

Mixed experience here so not sure will be back.

Who calls their wine Cujo??? Who Who?
Dover Canyon does a Cujo Zinfandel right. As other yelpers have mentioned, I stumbled on this winery looking for another one. In all honestly, I was looking for Red Soles, and made a left on the wrong street.

Luckily, this former walnut orchard did not disappoint. If I owned a winery, I would love it to look and feel something like this. Bunch of walnut trees, set among rolling hills, a beautiful home, a big tree with a swing, and a tasting room-now that's life. Staff is great, and we met another couple that had been coming there for years.

Unfortunately, I have to give this winery four stars instead of five. I thought the wine was very good, however, the service did not meet up to my standards. The girl who was pouring barely said two words to us the entire time we were tasting and we were the only people in the tasting room. She really didn't look like she wanted to be there, which made us not want to be there (Our tasting lasted less than 10 minutes). I will give this little winery another try when I return to the area in hopes for a better tasting experience.
