Quixote Winery
Embodying the phrase "a work of art" in every sense, from our world-class Napa Valley wines from Stags Leap to our extraordinary and eccentric architecture, we invite you to discover what makes Quixote special. The essence of Quixote's wines consists of our dedicated winemaking team staying true to the vineyard and letting the wines express the true meaning of our Stag's Leap Appellation terroir.

In 1989, Carl Doumani discovered the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and commissioned him to design a winery to combat notions of pleasurable wine being an absurdly, all serious pursuit. Know that you'll have a guaranteed share of Quixote's most distinctive wines. When you join our Membership, it is your opportunity to bring our 'works of art', fine wines directly to your home.
Services
Quixote is a boutique gem in the Stags Leap District, producing just 2,000 cases annually. Our small production of Cabernet Sauvignon is only found at our winery and our Petite Sirah can be found at some of the Napa Valley's top restaurants and hotels.

The legacy of Quixote and its sought-after wines are above all, how our Winemaking chief Philippe Melka and Estate Winemaker B.R. Smith looks to stay true to the vineyard and let the wines express the true meaning of our Stags Leap Appellation terroir. Our unique vineyard has four distinct soil types and both east and west facing slopes giving us wines of great balance and complexity.
It's an illustrious neighborhood that includes many of the founding fathers of Napa Valley. The soils vary across the Quixote property and are the result of volcanic eruptions that took place millions of years ago, as well as the slow erosion of the arid Vaca Mountains. The gravely soils, interspersed with cobblestones, are coarser and retain less water resulting in low-vigor vines that yield fruit with great intensity and flavor.
In 1989, Carl Doumani discovered the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian painter, architect, ecologist and philosopher. Believing that the wine society had transformed a beverage of consummate pleasure into an absurdly serious pursuit, Doumani commissioned Hundertwasser to design a winery that combats these notions.

From the moment you park your car you get a sense of history. As you walk up the custom stone steps to the winery house, you see the beautiful architecture that is unlike any other place in the greater Napa Valley. Staff was fantastic, and Patty specifically was super accommodating in every way. And as far as the wine goes. If you, are like me, and like big bold wines. There’s not a better place to be.

Quixote is one of our favorites. We found this quaint winery a few years ago as part of a private tour that we arranged to find some wineries off the beaten path. We were looking for some great Sirah and Cabs and this does not disappoint. The decor is a bit eccentric, but the staff and tastings cant be passed up. Lynn will take great care of you, walk you through the history and vintages and ensure you are able to taste all that you can. Covid regulations are in place these days with small groups all getting their own room or outside but honestly it didn't seem that different from non-Covid

Definitely a must visit. The wine is amazing and the hosts are top notch. It's off the path and not part of the tourist trap that Napa Valley can be. Patty is the top host in all of Napa Valley in our opinion. Her and Lynn keep it going and make it an amazing experience. Definitely add this to your list of must visits when you come to Napa.

This place has the best Petit Sirah in Napa Valley. It has an incredible setting with amazing views. Yet with all of that, the best thing there is Patty! She was so hospitable, knowledgeable and the most gracious host. Do not miss this little gem in the Napa Valley.

Loved the drive up to the property. Beautiful hidden valley location off the Silverado trail. This winery was recommended because if their bold and somewhat inky cabs and petite Syrah. Really enjoyed the side by side pours of younger and older wines so we could compare. Call ahead to secure a spot inside (very limited). We will be back with friends!

By reservations only, you can get the chance to experience the unique architecture that Quixote has to offer. Once you have a glass of wine in your hand, take a moment to really grasp how much thought went into the creation of the wines and the atmosphere of this winery. You might even notice that every single door frame and windowsill is a different shape and color!

I can't think of another winery as unique as Quixote, just be sure to call ahead and make reservations since each tasting includes a barrel room room and cheese plate!

I truly wish I could rate this place higher, but felt that some of the practices were slightly off. While they corrected one of the errors (previously rated 2 stars), I think that a few things needed to be fixed.
Positives:
- Architecture is great - reminds me of Barcelona!
- The cheese they provided was great and tasted well with the wine
Now, on to the "Areas of Improvement":
- Timing: They booked me at 10:30am (I have an email confirmation), but when we arrived, they said it would start at 11:00am (my friends were upset that I booked the wrong time, but in reality, I did book 10:30am)

The building is unique and very artistic (reminds me of gaudi in spain). The winery is not too big, which I liked because of the intimate tour we got all around the winery. But the best part is the tasty wines here.

Probably the most beautiful and unique architecture of a winery in Napa Valley, designed by the same architect who made the famous nature-inspired cathedral in Barcelona! It's his only work in the US. The wine is quite tasty as well! Must make a reservation.

Hands down my favorite winery that we visited in Napa!! We took the tour + tasting and enjoyed the story of how the winery was started and the eccentric owner and designer behind the crazy building. It reminds you of Barcelona, it is unique and beautiful. We enjoyed two glasses while doing the tour and while the tour doesn't last very long, we learned a lot. This is more of a craft winery so its small batches and limited runs that cannot be bought in stores.

YOU MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS!!!

They have a crazy permit that only allows them to have a certain number of guests on the premises so

Completed in 1998, the building was designed by the famous Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, about 2 years before he passed away. This place is a hidden jewel, both for its art and wine, as well as its seclusion. The winery is by appointment only, so be sure to call ahead of your visit.

Amazing place to visit and to check out how they do things . Nothing like the large wineries at all, you can see that's going on from the vinyard, to the barrel room, and the huge stainless steel tanks.
Drinking their organic wines from the Stag Leaps district...omg.

The architecture is off the hook, the lake if you can get there is gorgeous against the ridge line of the mountain.

Try to see it at dusk, when it's starting to get dark, but the sun makes the mountain glow and your surrounded by vinyards.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.....

For starters, finding it was not as easy as preferred. Had we been driving around a few days, I have a hunch we would have seen it a view times off the Silverado Trail, but it was our first day and our trusty navigation took us left on Silverado when we needed to go right. Google Maps was far more accurate.

Once there, it's really fun to see the building. Sort of a cross between a winery designed by Dr. Seuss and the Partridge Family. Really loved the design and character. The guys working there are very nice and knowledgable. We took a tour and had a tasting. Overall, we found their

Had some time to kill before our next wine appointment, so we were recommended by our next place (Jessup Cellars) to visit this winery because they had cancelations and had free space for our group.

My party drove over and were greeted warmly by Mike, who greeted us by name, knowing we were coming. We were never made aware of their tasting fee or that we were going to have to pay for anything. There was no price listing and Mike went straight to pouring us wine.

He then offered to take us on a walking tour of the winery (once again did not make us aware of any sort of cost or warning of we had

I was here last summer and still remember clearly how wonderful it was driving down to this little winery. You will need to call for the Hundertwasser wine tour. This artist's/architect's work is total whimsy. The colors, shapes, playfulness on the walls and the columns are just plain fun and amazingly different. The tour will tell some of the stories between the owner of the winery and Hundertwasser. The owner seeked out the artist because wine is supposed to be about fun after all! This is the only work of Hundertwasser you will see in all of North America and it is his last work before
