Services
The breadth of the Matrix estate fruit-from the foggy beds of the Russian River Valley, the highlands of the Sonoma Coast and the mountainous edges of Dry Creek Valley-gives our winemaker an incredible selection grapes. Our estate fruit sources also give us the flexibility to select not only the vineyards for our wines, but a vineyard block or even specific rows.
Matrix Winery is a small family-owned winery located on Westside Road which specializes in Pinot Noirs as well as Chardonnay, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley. Ken Wilson started planting grapes in Sonoma in the '80s and his vineyards are unexpected and diverse. This gift of diversity offers the winemakers of Matrix the luxury to hand-select grapes from the estate vineyards - block by block and sometimes even row by row.
Working out of a century-old tin barn since 1993, Diane Wilson has established herself as a standout winemaker in Sonoma County. She started her winemaking career by winning Best of Class for her wine, unusual for someone without formal winemaking training.

The instant success she experienced with her first vintage has continued for over twenty years, recently taking home 38 gold and double gold medals for her wines at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair.As the creative force behind Matrix Winery, Diane continues to accrue a staggering amount of awards each year.
Seventeen years ago, Ken and Diane Wilson held a casual barbecue at Wilson Winery with the belief that children of Sonoma County vineyard workers should not be limited by financial hardships in their pursuit of higher education opportunities; thus began the Children of the Vineyard Workers Scholarship fundraiser (CVWSF).
We invite you to enjoy the panoramic views of the Russian River Valley while sipping our critically acclaimed wines - Pinot Noirs, Zinfandels, Chardonnays, and Petite Sirahs. Its cozy atmosphere and friendly tasting staff create a unique and personal wine experience. Take the time to sit and look out over the undulating hillside vineyards as it is a quiet and lovely place to relax.

Very good wine, and an absolutely beautiful view. They specialize in pinotnior, a little different than the surrounding area. Definitely a stop for the view alone. That pond!

Amazing wine, Amazing staff! We live in Southern California, but visit Matrix 3-4 times a year. Thank you for always making it a pleasant happy experience. Special thanks to Joe and Sawyer (super cool, always helpful and very professional). Can hardly wait until our next wine tasting this weekend.
Highly recommend the wine and visiting the winery!

My husband and I came here today around 1130 am and were immediately greeted with smiles and were immediately seated ! We were seated overlooking the beautiful pond which was quite scenic !Our server was amazing up until he decided to go on a lunch break and not communicate with us where he was going ! I also asked for a glass of water and he never brought it ! The man who stood in for our server brought us our last tasting and the water I had requested earlier ! To be honest I was not impressed so I didn't tip which is unusual as I always tip ! The reason I gave three stars Thou as the wine

We showed up pretty randomly for a flight of wine. We don't usually go to the Sonoma Valley, typically we're in the Napa Valley. The Pinots were all nice and fruity. All drinkable wines in the flight. We got an extra pour of a nice estate reserve. We bought a few bottles of these, joined the wine club and got some winery caps. Saywer was very informative and helpful, point us to the family wineries for the next day. Complimentary tasting for wine members Kaching!

The view is very relaxing, overlooking a lagoon. Covered tables, a nice breeze, plenty of parking. Saywers friendly dog comes

The views on the property are a great back drop for a wine tasting. They take a very different approach to the traditional taste of certain veritital of wines. Their Chard taste like a Sav and the Pinots taste like Zins. The wines were pretty good but not worth the price of the tasting fees. Usually when you buy wine they will comp the tasting fee. They wanted 2 bottles/person to waive the fee which is above average for the industry. They also made a mistake with our charcuterie tray and told us they wouldn't charge us for it, but still did. Not one of my favorite winery experiences.

Beautiful setting, tasty wine, made even better by friendly and knowledgeable host (thanks Jesse). Matrix is a lovely setting with delicious wine specializing in Pinot Noir. It's also a very dog-friendly winery. Plus, the scent from the blooming jasmine permeated the whole venue adding to the experience. All in all, a lovely experience, and I'm looking forward to visiting again!

Wide open view of a pond surrounded by low hills and old oak trees, so the setting is incredible. One of eleven sister wineries in the area, join one and taste at the other ten. The pinots are the highlight here.

Love, love, love this place!

If you know me, or seen many of my other winery reviews, I am a Pinot nut! I had a good friend introduce me to Matrix years back and I have been hooked since. I have always been in Russian River Pinot fan, but many wineries fall short in producing spectacular Pinots with the wonderful opportunity they are given with the land at their feet. While Matrix produces some other great wines, I come for the pinots! With their extensive lineup, its really hard to pick out a favorite to be honest. Shifting focus now to the winery itself, perked in western Healdsburg, it offers

We stopped by this winery on a whim, and I'm so glad we did! They specialize in Pinot Noir but the tasting menu included other varietals.
The outdoor seating area is beautiful and the wines are excellent. In fact, we ended up joining the wine club. The winery is part of the Wilson Wines family, so a membership to one of the eleven vineyards allows complimentary tastings at the others, too. If they're all this good, we're in for a treat!

I have visited this winery twice and both times have really enjoyed the wine.

The first time I visited was for barrel tasting in 2019 and a second time this last weekend. We tasted a mix of wines, one white and several reds, with each one having a distinct quality that made it unique and more interesting than the last.

This last weekend we ended up taking the plunge and joining the wine club, which I would absolutely recommend if you are looking to explore Sonoma wine country. The unique thing about this single membership is that it gives you access to several different wineries throughout the

We came here for a tasting for my friends birthday. They sat us outside next to the bocce ball area, which meant we had people coming over by us constantly. In regards to social distancing, I think that could've been handled better.

The woman attending to us during our tasting was polite and knowledgeable about the wines. Truth be told, I didn't particularly care for any of the wines we tasted. One was good but I can't remember the name of it.

When we finished our tastings, we roamed the grounds for a bit and took pictures and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Many of the tables

First and foremost, let me just start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of Matrix Winery. I was a member for over a year before switching my membership over to their sister winery, DeLorimier. However, my last few tasting experiences (specifically my most recent one) have been some of the worst that I've ever received here.

I brought some friends here a few weeks ago for a tasting and the service was abysmal. It was fairly busy but nowhere near as busy as it would have been had it not been during the pandemic. We arrived and were sat at a table on their back patio. The table was underneath

I hate to leave a low review because their wines are delicious, but this is the 2nd time we went (with members no less) and had just terrible service. The first time we went in Nov 2018 we got there about an hour before close and they refused to open bottles of wines included in the tasting if they didn't already have them open. One of the girls that was with us was slower than the rest of us and the host refused to "go back" and pour ones she missed because she got behind the rest of the group. This weekend (March 2020) we gave it another chance and again had a different rude host

Beautiful winery with great views of the river and rolling hills. They are dog friendly. They have some great pinot noirs, zinfandel, and petit syrah. We came for a tasting and left with a couple bottles of zin and syrah. This is a low-key, casual winery. The staff were nice. You can grab a tasting at the counter and take it outside. It would be a really nice place to bring a picnic and just lounge all afternoon.

Sure this might not be the most beautiful winery with the best view and sprawling landscape but, in my opinion it is the one with the best wine. Every time I come here I get excellent customer care. Smiles greet you at the door, they always give you that extra pour and they never rush you out. They are known for their pinot and it isn't hard to see why. Their wine maker is absolutely brilliant- her wine tells a story from each sip. It is mostly fruit forward wines, with beautiful legs and no tannins- which definately is my favorite. They also came out with a new bubbles. I am not the biggest

Just an absolutely fantastic winery with a friendly and knowledgeable staff! We tasted at 4 wineries in the area yesterday, and this was the only winery at which I enjoyed every single wine. It's part of the Wilson family of wine tasting rooms, which IMO all make great wines. Known for their zins, none of the reds or whites (stainless steel barreled except for the chardonnay) disappoint. Our favorite was the 2016 reserve Pinot.

The setting here is gorgeous too - take a nice stroll in the trail bordered by the vines on one side and the pond on the other, or sit on the comfortable patio and

What a beautiful winery with nice views, vineyards, and the river behind the wisteria covered patio. We arrived early in the morning and were pleasantly greeted by Patrick. He was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive.

As it was a blistering hot Sonoma day, we eagerly tried their sauvignon blanc and rose. Both were spectacular! Next, we sampled their reds...pinots were very good.

Perhaps because of the weather, we took home the sauvignon blanc and rose. Ah! So good in the warmer temperatures.

What can I say, this winery has an spectacular view, fell in love with their wine and the winery itself. I went to the Chili taste off and this was one of the participating winery's.
So many to choose from it was hard to pick, this winery greeted us with a red wine from the Bacigalupi vineyard state which was delicious.
I would definitely come back to this winery in the summer time as the view is phenomenal and has that Zen relaxation feeling.
Thank you 2019 Wine and Chili taste off for one espectacular event.

As guests of Ms. Shayla, we were invited to a very impressive sampling of mostly reds zins and pinos.
Those are my favorite types... so beside seeing Shayla and her other pals, I was pretty excited to try em. I'm no wine dude as you know and frankly after about 10 samples and a couple of meatballs (made with one of the zins). I was done. Knowing I had to drive, I let Bae enjoy the last samples from my extra glass.but I did hon my likes about the varieties we sampled. I suppose i have decided I like fruity, spicy vs oaky, smoky or earthy.

This is a smallish winery, perfect for getting busy

I have so many amazing things to say about this place. My first and favorite memory is that it was one of our first stops after we got engaged two years ago.

Our most recent visit included some of our friends from out of town - you wouldn't even know we were there though cause our puppy got the mot attention!

We were started off with their rose which is always my favorite part of summer in Sonoma County. It was light and delicious and a great way to start the hot day. Chardonnay in general is not my favorite but the rest of the group loved it. Each of their red wines isn't better

Our second stop of the day and another Wilson Family wines winery. They were under construction for a new tasting room so the make shift tasting room was not as lovely as some but surely their new room will be grand overlooking their lovely grounds. The entranceway is quite lovely as you can see.
We tried a few of their wines and liked them alot - the Rose of Pinot from Bacigalupi grapes was floral and tart. We really loved the 2013 Reserve Pinot Noir from the same grape growers - yum, though a tad steep for my wallet at $68 - but for pinot lovers, probably worth it.
